well i found a really clean 91 240sx for 1k but it has a blown motor, so i was looking around and i found this:

http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/AMS- ... d-Kit.html

has anyone used this kit before? is it even a decent kit?

the pistons and rods are forged right?

the kit contains:

Arias 8.8:1 Forged Pistons
AMS Sportsman Series Connecting Rods
Clevite Main and Rod Bearings
Fel-pro Full Engine Gasket Set

my hp goals with a turbo are gona be around 350-450(at the most), so i wa wondering if this kit will fit in that range, the description says up to 550, but i wouldnt know

also is this the COMPLETE kit? or is there anything else i would need to do a rebuild?

lmk

thanks!

You would need to have the block machined and balanced. Best to do that first to see if you need a thicker head gasket. You need many more little gaskets, new timing set, should do a new oil pump, dial in cams and shim lifter buckets, valve stem seals, guides. Look into new springs, bases, retainers and locks, valve if your doing a good bit of boost, maybe upgraded cams, NEW waterpump, Damper pulley, and then all your turbo stuff.

Look for the kit that has the timing components too.

I looked at that kit before I bought everything seperately. Everything in the kit is legit i'd say go for it.

oh my goodness lol, wel is there any kits that are complete?

also how much extra do you think i will need in parts for this rebuild?

wat i was planning on doing was to rebuild the car so it runs fresh, with new forged internals. And i would keep it N/A for a while. Only mods i would do to it would be exhaust, intake and a nice cam.

Then as time goes on i would purchase a turbo kit, and run low boost, wanting to push like 250 whp

then after that i would get a bigger turbo and aim for 350-400 whp. (maby 450 at the most)

now will some stock parts be able to hold around that? that way i dont have to replace something that will hold up fine

lmk

thaks

(just as an estimate, whats an average cost of labor to do a rebuild?)

also i found this one:

will this be complete? or is there anything else i need?

well depending on how confident you are in your abilities, go buy a chilton manual or find one of the factory service manuals and try doing the rebuild yourself. if you go that route the labor is essentially free except for the relatively small cost of the manual (mine was around $25). of course you will probably need to have the block worked on by somebody else, in which case im not sure how much

The block work and balance should be 900-1400 bucks depending on whats done. Acid bath, bore, hone, hot tank, polish journals, balance rotating assy, balance fly wheel, and then assy.... another 800-1000. If you dont want to do this, check out built long block / short block
