Need some info on 5-Speed manual trans

We have a 1990 240sx which we race a a short oval track. We have three different trannys, one has #1, one has #2 & one has #3 on the right side behind the arm for the throw out bearing. We were told we should be using the transmission which has a # 3 on it. Does anyone know what the gears are in the three different trannys or how to find out?

Thanks for the info, I must have been given some wrong info from one of the guys at the track. He said we should keep an eye out for a transmission with a #3 on the side, said they were hard to find but were geared better for our track.
