it doesnt matter where you get it, you must have a receipt, before pictures help to show what is damaged that made it totaled. but you just have to tell them what you did and show them where you legally got the parts... saying its the way you bought it WILL NOT fly, it will make them look harder to make sure you didnt but a car with stolen parts already on it.
and the obd test is for 96 and newer. 95 doesnt matter.
and the sr20det is fine, IF they dont know better or check the vin plate... if it looks stock (no aftermarket ic piping or what not) they prob wont give it a second look. unless the engine was why it was totaled, but i doubt it.
if you live in nyc you have to get the inspection done in the nyma (new york metropolitan area) they have different inspection stickers than the rest of nys...
and this is a salvage inspection, not an annual inspection. im pretty sure they wont check emissions or cel status. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THAT STOLEN PARTS WERNT USED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE TO SAFE STANDARDS.
take off any parts that you can easily, ie the torque dampner, etc... less things to possibly explain.
the more paperwork you bring the better... did you get an estimate from ins company that totaled it out? or the shop where it was at? or pics? bc if you have pics of the damage then should only bust your balls for parts in that area... ie if the left quarter panel was smashed then they probably wont ask about anything under the hood...
