Whats a good rpm to launch a manual 240 at? I've tried launching at 3500 rpm several times, but all turned out bad. I shift to first and my rpm just keeps going up and I'm not really going anywhere. Could my clutch be slipping? Thanks in advance.(all of this was done on an empty stretch of road)

BTW - 1990 240sx 5 speed with 72k miles

did you mean like your wheels spinning but not going anywhere or your rev just went up but no wheel spin no movement...

If its the second case the clutch is slipping.

well it moves but just that its very slow i dont know if its me or the car im a beginner at this so wen i do it i rev up to 3000-3500rpm let go of clutch and step on gas right away is that how its suppose to be done?

Edit: When I shift to first my rpm just climbs, but I don't peel out or anything and I'm just moving slow like 5-10 mph or something not really sure, but it feels like it. Even into 2nd gear I'm still going at the same speed until I let off then it's all good again.

Here is the best way to test your clutch to see if it's slipping, it's called the 1st to 5th test. Find a straight away with no traffic or cars and just take off normally. Run it all the way up in 1st to about 5000 to 6000 rpms and then shift into 5th and mash the gas to the floor, if your engine bogs down then your clutch is good but if it shoots up back towards redline then you have a slipping clutch and it should be replaced.
