Need some help with interior spot lamp issue

We recently bought a qx4 and have been doing minor things that needed done to it. One issue that I am having is when you open one of the doors (any of them) the front most interior lamp does not come on with the rest of the lights. Both the rear light and the cargo light work as they should. When you press the front lights manually (with your finger) they work just fine so it it is not the bulbs. All the four door switches work fine. I pulled down the front light to make sure everything was plugged in right and all seemed to be good.

Any ideas??

I have an 01 QX4 too, and the front lights don't come on in mine when you open the doors either. As best I can tell, they're not supposed to. I'd be pretty stoked to hear they should be though!

Looks like no for sure; there's no door option for the Spot Lamps (front). The Interior (middle) and Luggage Room (rear) lamps both do:

I had pulled that diagram up too but figured I was missing something. it just seemed logical that would you opened the drivers door that those lights would come on so you can at least see where to put the key. That is really strange.

I know the other two lights have the door switchs on them were you can set them to turn on with the doors or not. I had figured the front most light did not have that switch due to the default being that those ones always come on with the door.(its not an option). Could one eles confirm that your front most interior roof spot lamps don't come on with the doors either? That way both of us aren't left in the dark for no reason.

The map/ spot lights do not illuminate on my 04 Pathfinder when the doors are opened. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to do a mod so they do illuminate.

Good to know. Ya i had thought of the same idea of just wiring them in with the others. Not a big deal just wanted to see if it was something that needed attention.

Wonder how hard it would be to connect the neg side of the front lights to the #8pin on the ECU? Should be able to fish a wire to the center light maybe?
