Well, the other day I found out my recently purchased '95 240 now has a hole in the exhaust system. My problem is now I have to purchase a new exhaust a lil earlier than expected. So now I'm looking at getting an aftermarket performance exhaust system. On the performance side, the car is still completely stock, I'm hoping (hoping if I don't run into any severe problems next year) to swap in the SR20DET and do some other performance upgrades. My question is, if I buy a turbo exhaust now seeing that the car is still stock will it hurt my car's performance a lot?

(I just don't want to buy a whole new non-performance exhaust then turn around and spend the $$ for performance exhaust)

Now these two questions I most likely could've searched for, but since I started typing I didn't want to get side tracked plus I don't have a lot of time on my hands at the present moment.

1. When thinking of going with the SR20DET would it be best to go with the 2.5 piping or 3 inch and WHY?

2. I would like an exhaust that has good performance and quality that won't wake my whole neigborhood up when I drive by (you know what I mean) any suggestions would be greatful.

Thanx

if you plan on doing the sr20 then get a three inch. Apexi n1, Hks Hiper, Greddy Tr evo 2, Blitz Nur Spec, Gp sports, Bee R, 5zigen,Jic bullet-titanium. All pretty good exhausts, just depends on what you want to spend. The three inch is going to be loud on an NA car and you will lose low end torque. When you get the sr it will quiet down. Oh and by the way- you should always do a search. especially for anything sr related, or you'll probably get flamed. hope that helped.

You know what, after I posted that I searched. Searching on here isn't the fastest method. I spent an extra 20 minutes and found the word "exhaust" but not what I was looking for. If you want to be helpful don't post up "search" and post up something that complies with my question.

If you dont want major performance losses, I'd say use live with the hole until the SR comes. SR performance exhaust is way too loud on a NA. Restrictive nonturbo exhaust isnt too great on helping a turbo breath.

1. 3" will offer performance gains over the 2.5 exhaust....you dont want a exhaust that would restrict gasses too much...

2. Greddy exhaust are prob the quitest, or get an N1 with a silencer...in turbo cars the turbo acts almost as a muffler, and quites the tone...

wouldn't the N1 duel be a good choice? it does use 3" piping which splits into two 2.5" pipes, doesn't this flow just as much as the N1 single? and i know it's not as lould as the single on the KA...

Can't the hole in the exhaust just be patched or replaced with a short section of pipe? Take it to a muffler shop and see what they can do for you.

The search is helpful in some degree, but you can spend hours just trying to find what you are looking for. I have 3.5Mb High speed connection, just think of the ppl on here who still have dial up. It would take them freakin all day to find exactly what they are looking for. This site is small comparied to other forums that I'm a member of, but still take in consideration that I did mention I didn't have that much time on my hands earlier to search. But, thank you for your recommendation about the two choices.

That is gonna be my first step, cause I would really like to have the exhaust put on at the time the swap is completed.
