i started assembling my ca tonight and everything went great until i went to spin the short block to see if anything was binded up and sure enough it was. from what i can tell it looks like piston 1 and 4 and hitting the counter weight. 2 and 3 move perfectly and feel great. can anyoen help? heres the specs-stock rebuild-cevelt 77 bearings-perfect circle rings-simple hot tank deck, honeits seems to be bindingright as the counter shaft reaches almost 12 o'clocksry its too late to fuss with it right now i just figured the great people of nico could give me some ideas before i tackle it tomorrow. thanks for any help

The only way I can think that this would happen is if you had the piston turned slightly. But even then, when you tightened up the rod caps, it should have straightened them out.

rod caps are on and i took a better look today and it kinda looks like the piston skirt is hitting the oil squirters heres some pics hopefully you can tell were i screwed upthis is the position that the pistons get stuck

Dude, you put the pistons in backwards! Pull the rods, flip them around, and put them back in. As you said, the piston skirt is hitting the oil squirter. If you look on the opposite side of the piston, there is a relief for the squirter.

And FYI for everybody, there is almost always some sort of marking on the top of the piston designating which side faces forward. Usually a little dot on one side. This needs to face towards the front of the motor (the water pump end in most cases).

Tim's from Alabama. He's jobless and in a constant state of drunkeness. I don't think you can remain in that state for more than 48hrs with out getting drunk and still retain your sanity...
