Hey, I'm currently putting a CA18DET into my Datsun 1600 ( P510 )....and have most of it all done already....but a couple things I need help with.....

there is a wire from the ECU that apparently goes to the variable intake solenoid?....I've looked at my CA...and a couple of others....and they are all vacume operated...so don't know where this wire goes to???

also....a wire from the ECU to go to the park ( auto ), or Nuetral ( manual ) switch. do I need to hook this up? ( it's for a M/T ).

ambient air temp sensor ( apparently located in front of the radiator on Silvia's )...I didn't get one of these with my engine.....do I need it?

and since it's going into a Datsun.....do I need to hook up the electric speed sensor from the g/box?

one last thing....whats a good safe amount of boost to run with a standard ECU and injectors? ( will have a decent intercooler ). I was thinking of 12psi?

cheersDan

that wire for the solenoid does go somewhere, i forget where exactly but i can check for you when i get home. its dumb but some have wires as well as well as vacuum stuff. its gotta be able to sense vacuum and pressure somehow, otherwise you wouldnt be able to have that ghey little boost cut thing. i promise you that goes to some kind of solenoid, it isnt lying. ill try to find out for you.

the park/neutral sensor is on the transmission, its the sensor on top closer to the back i think (either that or the one kinda on the side in the middle).

you dont need the ambient air temp sensor.

i'd think you would want to hook up the electric speed sensor, it isnt that tough to do and its better to be safe i guess.

it depends what turbo youre using, 12 psi on a t3/t04 or even t28 is much more than 12psi on the little t25 hair dryer. if its the stock turbo, then yes, but for reference the stock ecu has a boost cut at 13psi that you might want to look into bumping up or removing. if you arent running the stock t25 then i'd want to step up the injectors just a bit (444s from a skyline will be plenty).

good luck with that project man.

I can answer the neutral switch one, don't know about the rest. It's the sensor all the way at the tail of the transmission, up sorta near the shifter assembly. You do not need to hook it up on a manual transmission. Mine isn't hooked up, and I have no problems.

cheers guys...had already re-wraped the loom...so it's good to know I didn't need the park, or ambient air temp :)

r34 gtr, that'd be awesome if you could find out where the varible intake thing goes for me!

how do you hook up the speed sensor?on my diagram...it says it goes from the box...to the dash...then to the ECU.can I just wire it straight to the ECU?

yeah....I only plan to run the engine standard except for the boost for now till I get more $ again....lol

what engine are the 444 skyline injectors from?

Oh yeah....and if anyone could find me a diagram of where all the different vacum lines go it would be awesome!

my vaccum lines are like this:

small one on back of intake manifold goes to fpr and tees off to the butterfly valves (mine butterflies are removed, so mine just goes to the fpr)

big one on the side of the intake manifold (near the front) goes to my BOV.

small one under the throttle body is capped off

I have my wastegate running off a nipple on my hotpipe

hope that helps:)

As for the speed sensor, all thats for is so the ECU can cut fuel over 180km/h, but if you want it I'm not sure if the speedo modifies the signal any, check the FSM on zilvia.net for the signal waveforms, I know they're in my 89 240SX FSM (at least for the speed sensor to speedo, not sure about speedo to ECU.. )
