Wanted to start off by saying hey. I havent been on for months, but I need some help that I know you guys are good for.

1) about a month ago, my "VDC OFF" and "SLIP" lights in the dash started to turn on once in a while. About three weeks ago, they turned on and stayed on since. A few days later the "BRAKE" light (the one for the e-brake) also turned on to join its buddies. I know my car well enough that VDC is NOT off and I am surely not slipping. Also, my e-brake, or any break for that matter, is not engaged after i drop the e-break. I know nissans are known for computer malfuctions, but i am hoping there is a solution.

2) Two days ago, my ( i ) (the alert symbol, yellow) turned on, flashing psi in the gauge. So i pull over immediatly and begin to fill up my tires to 35 psi. Problem was that i couldnt get my rear two caps off of the valve. So yesterday, i took an adjustable rench, and barely twisted it (to the left ) taking off the cap...along with the top part of the valve! Now the little needle sticks out and pushing it in releases air. (Doesnt emit air while driving though). Right after, i hopped in the car and went to a mechanic. He said that the replacement of the valve AND sensor with installation will come out to $125. My question is do i need to replace the sensor or am i getting f*cked? Also, if i don't need a new sensor can i do this job myself?

Pictures of the problems are coming soon! Thanks in advance for the help!

My 2 cents...

1) For this, you'd need to check the electrics first... so get to your nissan dealer and get an error-code reader onto the car. If there are no error codes, you can start checking fuses, sensors and wires and go down the rabbit hole until Alice pops up.

2) A tire specialist can replace the valve without any problems. Costs $5-$20 (estimate... as I live in Europe, I would give the guy about $2 + cost of valve, which is small).

Hopefully. If it's like you described, and just the valve end broke, it's fixable with just a new valve.

1) you wearin stock rubber? from the way it went from intermitent, gradually to constantly on, id have to imagine your VDC is reading either uneven tire wear or a drop / difference from F/R in pressure, due to a slow leak, as a slip. as for the break light, check the fluid & make sure you got a decent amount of material left on your pads all around.

2) your call, but id probably just bite the bullet at the shop myself.

good luck man

btw, i have a used tps (tire pressure sensor) laying around

in order to replace it, go to your local tireshop with the new sensor and tell them to put it in... should be no more then 25$ to have it installed
