Ok so im new and know a bit about cars, but i cant figure this one out. i have a 91 s13 and it has a redtop, today i went cruising cuz my clutch was slipping before and i got a new one and had the clutch pedal adjusted. i got on the highway and everything was normal, i drove for a few miles and got off on a busy road. after a light or 2 i noticed that i would step on the gas and nothing would happen, the rpms didnt go up or anything it would not go. i drove it home took a look and everything seemed normal. i had to go somewhere for about an hour and came back got in it and it wouldnt start. i was thinking it could be a fuel problem or something but the fuel pump did turn on every time? so after like 20 tries it started and i decided to take it around a few blocks and hit the gas and it went like a bat outta hell, drove it some more and it was still fine?

i have no idea what happened, if anyone has some advice or can help me out i would appreciate it.

then how'd you get it home again? the motor's still running, just it's not moving the transmission yes? any funny sounds or added stiffness to the pedal, when was the last time you had your master/slave replaced? In the first bit, you mentioned it running, then not going anywhere, could you elaborate on it? Then in the second section you mention it not even starting. more details

i was on the highway and got off and i stopped at a light and the car would go very, very slow, the rpm's went up slowly. when i give it gas the car just didnt want to go, it wasnt the clutch because i know if a clutch is slipping, and i did get the master cylinder checked and flushed and everything and they told me it was perfect. so i drove it home even though it had no power, i was too far away to just leave it or pull over. eventually i got home and checked everything and everything seemed normal, well an hour later i tried to start the car and it wouldnt start, just a clicking noise and the fuel pump did come on. well after about 20 tries to start it, it finally started and i decided to take it for a spin, and it ran fine, i had no problems, i didnt understand what happened. and also today it acted funny, i got home from work parked it and put it in neutral and the rpms went up and down, up and down, and it felt like the timing is off or it is misfiring, i dont know if that has anything to do with what happened before. its done it once before i parked it and it started to do the same thing and when i shut it off and leave it alone for a couple hours and turn it on later it runs fine and doesnt do it anymore, any ideas?.....thanks

you said when you tried to start it that there was a clicking? Sounds like a bad electircal charge. try changing out your batter and testing your alternator to make sure it is charging the battery properly. Low voltage would also cause crappy acceleration.

well it wasnt the battery or alternator, i just had them checked but i have more details with the idling problem. i never noticed it but when the rpms go up and down ( about 700 then to 1200 and then back up again) i noticed that black smoke comes out of the exhaust. the only way i can describe it is like a chimney during winter the smoke just comes out black and steady and the engine shakes really bad every other second like it is misfiring or something, it just seems to stumble, and i cant figure out whats wrong, i also just put in new plugs so i dont think that can be it? i was also thinking that the fuel pressure regulator might be going bad, anyone have any ideas? id really appreciate any help. thanks.

Ok i was checking all of my vacuum lines and stumbled on to something weird, and i need some help ,plz. i have an AEM tru boost boost controller/gauge, now on the instructions it says to connect the wastegate nipple to one of the ports, and everywhere that i have checked , ive seen that the wastegate nipple should be connected to the IC piping, i am a bit confused and some advice would be very helpful, i checked at heavythrottle and this is what it says on their site:

small inlet-FPR, boost gauge, then boost controller.big inlet-BOVwastegate nipple-IC piping

does this sound right?
