I have a 89 240SX (S13) and I Have Sony Xplod 4x6. They sound awesome. I got the Drivers side one in. I was shocked when I noticed the Plug in the door was a plug. The speakers were + and - separated.

So I cut the plug off. stripped the wires. I wraped the + and - around the stripped wires. (they are not touching.) I the wraped then up the exposed wires with electrical tape so they would not touch. I dont know if I matched the up with + to + and - to -. if I had it wrong would they have still worked? and if I did it wrong hat the worst that can happen.

now to my problem.I got all the screws out of the Passenger door. including the handle. I then pulled the panel off starting one side to the other.

I could not get the panel off for some reason. it acted as if it was still screwed in at the handle bar on the bottom but I could not locate a screw on the bottom. How do I get this off?

it acts like its stuck in the middle of the door. and I aint about to go prying on the door to get it off. cause if it breaks. it can get expensive.

I know that there are questions in a question but do your best. lol. thanks in advanced for any help.

and I used the search only got the Drivers door panel removal.

you can blow a fuse. now back to your original problem, if you have roll down windows, you're going to have to remove that handle, there are screws in the door handle, dont forget that you have to remove the handle bar on the door. if you look at your driver side door and your passenger door and notice the added handle, you'll see what im talking about

ok so I need to take the added door handle off the whole way. do I just pull up on it after I get the top of it out?

and roll down my windows. I will try again when I wake up tomorrow. I noticed when I installed the 1 speaker all the others got louder. When I play a Tape (I have MP3 Player and was low on cash to buy FM) lol. I play the tape I can barely hear my new speaker. I hear all my old ones just fine.

I figured if I put the + on the - then it would not work. correct me if I am wrong.

I am purely puzzled, mainly because i havent had much sleep. When connecting your speakers, the negative(i believe) should fit on the small prong where you connect the wire on the new speaker, the positive on the big prong on the new speaker.

As for your door, the latch where you open the door. there should be a screw there, take off the window knob, and take off the door grip/handle(it'll be present on the passenger, not he driver) and there might be another screw in a cup like thing, that'll allow you to unclip and unhinge the panel

thanks for your help man.

I have the installed but now my Right Rear Speaker will not work. not sure what happend there. I put the wire with the white stripe on the wire with the white stripe. so I used my common sense. but I am not sure if that rear speaker ever worked.

What Fuse will it blow if it does? I am curious. I noticed my Driverside Speaker wires looked old and blue. the Passenger side looked like newer orange wires. the passenger side is alot louder then the driver side for some reason.

On a funny note. I tried my power windows and they would not work. Its about to rain. so I scramble and take the door panels back off. I unplug the wires and plug them back in still nothing. at this point I am throwing my screw driver, cussing, and kicking the ground. My bro comes out and asks whats wrong. I said the power windows wont work. I know I broke them.

he says. "You got the car on?".... No..... lol. sure enough I turn the car on and the windows roll up. lmao.

Sony and walmart=Not good. I did not have enough parts to install. Some wires were missing, Speakers did not fit my template and neither did their extra template. So what fuse could I blow? lol. I am almost positive I have the hooked up right. however the driver side both wires had white stripes. lol.

walmart is actually pretty good when it comes to cheap parts, where you went wrong in my opinion is sony. Sony out sources everything. Um, as for fuses, i no longer own a 240 so i cant walk out and look for you, but check the small fuse box by the pedels, it'll be on the right of them. theres a guide line on the cover of the fuse box, you can invest in a fuse checker, or take some needle nose pliers and pull it out. the fuses are see through, just check them and make sure the middle metal part is solid, if not its blown. You could just buy whole new 16 gauge(AWG) wire and rewire it all. if you go to the automotive wiring area you can buy crimps and what not to make a clean install. You're going to need maybe 60ft of wire. when you removed the OEM connectors you did remember to leave like and inch or 2 of wire left on the connector right? its no biggie if you did, but you never know if you need to reuse them

Walmart does have a scosche radio install kit for like 20 or 30 bucks, i'd buy that, it helped me out alot, its cheap, but it makes you life easier by giving more tools that you need in one package

walmart is good for cheap parts. but they take back anything. I was missing some bolts and the one wire I need but ohwell. my rear speaker wont work now so I think I have it hooked up wrong. I am not sure I am going to take it to bestbuy and have them install my rear speakers since I have no idea how to get the rear hatch panels off. not only that but I can have the fix my front ones also.

yeah I know I screwed up going with sony because all I hear at high volume is a static/cracking noise. however it sounds better then it did.

hey Kudos to you man. Thanks for helping me out through this.

i've been rockin a sony deck for months and the sound quality is amazing. I got 6's in the front and stock speakers in the back. They were already in when i bought the car so i never got to have the pleasure of installing them myself but get your wiring and speakers worked out because it's not the deck making that crackling static noise.

If you're in a hatch, just slip something underneath the break in plastic. It'll be RIGHT AFTER the speaker grill, NOT underneath the whole plastic trim. If you're running a stock deck, it might be the deck on whats making the static, its like 90% of them time your audio system sucks

so if I am sitting in the hatch, it is just before the speaker grill, on the right side, or after. on the left side where the screw is?

(driver side?)
