need some help....

My 76 is acting weird.... ok when i drive it and like after 20min or so the idle shoots up to 1300-1500 rpms i have no clue why?... the fuel pump is makin a wining noise that i can hear in cabbon (is it goin out i think so but not sure...) and when it gets to those higher idles the car sputters like its tryin to go but really wont.... it like completly stalls then kicks back in... the tps is disconected because its not working.... but other then that i dont understand why its doin all this... i found a tear in my air boot after the maf and i patched that up kinda hopeing that was it but any ideas would help guys jack...

well the hole in the boot will casue high idle, have you checked for any additional leaks? also I believe the 76 had the off boostvalve ro whatever it's called on the bottom of the throttle body, might be worth looking into, this is why so many swith to carbs
