need some help please!

hey everyonei was at the gas station today filling up and went to start my car after and it wouldn't start!... (note* i had the engine shampooed at 1pm and this took place at 11:30pm, so that should have given it enough time to dry) i started the car perfectly fine at least 4 times before this happened... i wasn't thinking it was the battery but as luck had it, it was... i hooked up a battery booster and it started so i got home safe. i shut the car off and tried to start it immediately after and it wouldn't start, it only starts with the battery booster. i bought a new battery about a year ago, but the alternator is about 10 yrs old. any ideas on how this could have happened?

Your battery isn't holding charge and/or your alternator isn't charging it adequately. What exactly happens when you go to start the car? Clicks? Lights out? One click? But defiantely see about another battery if you can.

its starting again!... what was happening was that it was clicking... what i was doing when i started (without the booster) was continuously trying to start it while pressing the gas and all of a sudden it started and everything seems to be fine now... ill check it back it in the morning.. thanks for the advice, ill take my battery for a test and test out my alternator also.

Clicking of any kind almost always equals starter problems. If you did not short your system (i.e. dash clock not reset to 1:00) then your electronics are probably fine.
