in the mean time i had drove a freinds boosted ka 240 and decided to fix mine.so before doing anything i asked my freind that has a machine shop what he things it might be.and hes thinking it might be a wrist pin.so my ? is where can i get one form.will the one from a ca18de work?or should i go ahead and get new pistons and wrist pins from cp?

any info would be great

Two things;First, if you drove a friends boosted KA and liked it, that is cool, but please be aware that the CA won't give you that press you back in the seat feel that the KA does. It's a simple matter of torque, and the CA basically lacks it. Have you ridden/driven a CA yet? I just don't want you to be dissapointed.

Secondly, how did the mechanic determine that it was the wrist pin that failed? That is the first time that I've heard of that happening on a CA, even with stock pistons. I'm not saying that it couldn't have happened, just a rare occurance if it did. It's much more likely to have spun the #3 main/rod bearing as that part of the motor has oiling problems. Regardless the motor will need torn down and at least get a minor rebuild. As for pistons, it depends on your goals. Sub 300hp, I'd try and get a hold of Dee and find a stock set for cheap. If you've got the $400-$500 (I can't remember how much they are) for the forgies, then by all means go for it. Forged pistons with the stock bottom end should be good for 400-500HP. (That's what the UK guys tell us anyway)

I still think you should ditch it because I REALLY want your boost controller and turbo timer.

ok first yes i have drove a ca.mine.i have had this car for more then 2 years and i drove it for a year before rebuilding it.i was just saying it felt good driving a boosted car.not that i liked the tq of the ka better.

the guy that told me that just said that what it sounds like to him.not that it done it.the motor will be out and took apart this coming week end to see for sure.i was just asking fgor i can do some looking about the pins just in case.i would love to get the forge piston if they only cost 400-500 bucks that fine.i have only seen them for 1000klet me know what dee says.i had him email me before but i lost his email address again thanks to my son.

i will let you know more soon.

Sorry, I couldn't remember if you had just gotten the motor in there or what the deal was.

I'm sure Dee can come up with something. I just don't know if the CA18DE wrist pins are interchangeable, or not.

Wrist pins? Naaah, I don't think it's your wrist pins as this motor is not likely to screw-up one unless you assembled the pistons and rods possibly didn't proper insert the circlip??? I don't think that is the case, but hey who knows. What is you car actually doing wrong? Dude, I hate the fact that you're not having fun with this car. As a matter of fact, I hate it when most of these guys complain about this and that because in the end, they are not having fun with what they spent their money on and that sucks. Unfortunately, some are know-it-alls, but yet they still come here for information. Whilst the rest of these guys are hungry for knowledge and want to really try to be do-it-yourselfers and I'm down with that as well.

But for you man, I'll shoot you an email containing my email address and after you tear down your motor, tell what you need. When you got guys like float around providing with useable information, you know you're not alone in this game.

like i said thanks to you and float for the help.i will get the motor took apart this coming weekend and hit you up.

ryan, i dont know what you are talking about. my CA has gobs of torque, it just doesnt rear its ugly head until about 3800rpm. thing will give you whiplash in 4th if you stomp it.

jason, let me know if you need any parts. i dont have a whole lot but i may be of some use. ill be driving right past you friday, and then again on sunday (in the 240).
