So i have been putting alot of time and research into this lately, to get rear discs on the path/qx4, using OEM parts. We have seen it done a few times, no one ever said how though.
I have been going through a ton of information on the patrol, frontier, xterra, etc as they use the h223b axle also.
Thoughts right now:
It will be possible, i do not have yet a price range for the parts, and how widely available they will be, and also need to yet figure out the exact procedure but i am getting closer and closer.
Main point right now is i want to keep ABS. Reason being, ABS is superior in wet conditions, and dry also if heavy or emergency braking, this is basically a must for me at least to keep this feature.
What i need help on right now is diagrams and blown up diagrams of our rear axle, rear braking components, and is our ABS 3 or 4 way? I know the front is independent of each wheel, but in the rear if one detects slippage are they both engaged or independent like front? This may be a last resort but can ABS be kept working in the front? and in the rear either disabled or "tricked into being there" so it still works?
How many sensors are there in the rear? 1 or 2? Where are they located?
I do not feel like taking off my rear wheels to take a closer look, i have been taking apart my pathfinder into pieces alot lately to replace stuff, maintenance, airlift install, etc. It needs to stop for a little while.
I will most likely take a look closer next week cause i wil be throwing my 20"s back on, no reason to waste my pirelli winter tires if there is no snow up here in the northeast lol.
Regardless of that, diagrams will definetly help me out, along with detailed ABS info on how ours works. I will update what i am coming up with along the way, and stuff that i need assistance on.
Hope we can make this happen!
