So I set the timing on my sr swap. All lined up perfectly. CAS was right everything was. So I go to start the car it ran for a second with a rough idle gas it a little gas and then as soon as I let off it died. Now it will just turn over and not start at all. Any ideas? This is really starting to piss me off.

Is it possible to be a 180* off on the cas? Because I got it running but it was really really rough. But the more I rotated the CAS clockwise the better it got. But now I went as far as I could with it. Do I have to take off the VC again and rotate the CAS clockwise one more rotation and set everything to TDC?

Also when I first started it up it wouldnt rev past idle even if I went wot. But when I rotated it clockwise I got it to go to1500

whats you're bov set up? my first thoughts are that you are running an unrecirculated bov on the stock ecu with no safc or anything of the sort

sounds like some sort of misfire... if you timed it rite then it shouldnt run that way ... it could be a bad igniter chip or one or more of your coils has high resistance causing a dead miss or not strong enough spark, so idle will be rough and feel like it will stall... which it did... but it could be a number of things so check your

coilsigniter chipfuel injectors fuel pressure

also look for loose connectors , connectors that you might of forgot to plug in or vacuum lines that might have been misrouted

did you re build the sr or just plugged it in and pressed play?i hope you replaced all necessary little tid bits like new fuel pump and fuel filter along with the cleaning of your maf sensor and the laundry list of preventative maintenance things.

well check the above and let me know your findings il be on again to help diagnose this turn over no start that you have

Im running a HKS bov and it ran before fine. I had to remove the motor to fix a bad oil leak inside the transmission. And Im not running the stock ecu, I have a jim wolf ecu tuned for z32 maf, gt28 turbo, and 740cc injectors.

sil8tdrftr- I got it running yesterday but it wouldnt rev past 1k rpm at first. I twisted the CAS counterclock wise and it run a little smoother but no where near perfect and would only rev to 1500 rpms.

Think I need to pull the valve cover again, set it all to tdc then give the CAS another twist counter clock wise?

i think that you should redo the timing again cause you shouldnt need to be turning the cas at an extreme angle to retard or advance your timing to run better... then we could trouble shoot it out more after that is fixed

So I took off the valve cover and this is what I got.

Everything looks good to me. Right?

So should I rotate my cas one time?

maybe check the FSM for the propper way to install the cas... ive never delt with mine so i dont know maybe theres a certain way the cas has to be put in with a mark or somthing so it knows where #1 cylinder TDC is???

i dont know where the online FSM is located at but if someone else would be kind enough to post it that would help out alot... sometimes its on some peoples sig but i dont remember who has it in theirs

but other than that everything in the pics look solid... although you might have to put the timing marks together again with the chain just to make sure its all good and make sure cylinder #1 is on top dead center when you line everything up cause thats important
