I'm a honda kid that wants to buy a 240, But I dont know much about them...

Can someone Tell me if they think this deal is fair?

1994 240sx coupe 5speed
- Swapped for newer generation dohc 2.4l, (ka24de? )
- Full apexi 3inch exhaust (3 inch on a stock 4-cylinder? )
- Tein coilovers on KYB struts - TEIN lower control arms in front.
- 15'' deepdish sportmax racing wheels - Falcon azanes tires
- 300zx brake upgrade
- NO rust, body is completely straight

NEEDS - Paint job, very bad sun fade
Dash is cracked.

Does 3,500 seem like a fair price? What to look out for?

1. you mean that it has tein springs on kyb struts, not coilovers
2. the car originally came with the ka24de, so the only factor to me would be the mileage...
3. 3500 is way too much IMO

Are there any differences between the 2.4 in the next generation? Because thats what he said was put in, and has 100,000 miles on it..

i think the s14 ka24de runs an internal coil on the distrubitor(sp)

but i dont think there is any real benfit to the motor besides it is newer and may have less miles, i wouldnt consider it to be a majorly upgraded motor...

not worth 3.5k.....

i would start my offer at 2.5k

2.5k is fair considering the "mods"... AT MOST $2700...

Edit.. That's not a 94 and it's not a coupe...

price varies by geographical area as well. used car prices are always a lot lower than you expect. let supply and demand decide.

It's not a 94. The only 240sx sold as a 94 model year was a convertible. That car is between 89-93.
A full 3" exhaust is too big for a stock motor, it'll rob a little bit of torque down low. But Apexi is a nice one.
You can't have coilovers and struts together.. so you have Tein springs on KYB struts. Are they KYB AGX adjustables or just the cheap GR2s?
sportmax wheels are cheap, and heavy.. but look nice on that car.
300zx fronts only? Complete on all 4? with working ebrake? The whole package is worth $1k if it's done right.
no rust is awesome.. getting rare on these cars.
paint job will cost you a pretty penny to redo.

So.. yeah.. probably not quite worth $3500.. under $3k I'd say, and that depends on the details of the brakes and struts.

300zx brakes all around, with the working e-brake. So 2,500 is more fair?

Depending on where you live, I doubt it actually has no rust. Make sure you look for rust everywhere.

Swapped for a newer KA - if he can't prove it he probably didn't do it.
3'' exhaust - so what.
springs and struts - your probably going to want to upgrade to coilovers so I wouldn't pay more for this.
sportmax wheels - doesn't add to the value.
300zx brake upgrade with no 5lug? Why wouldn't you just do both at once.

You didn't mention the miles, so I'm guessing he didn't tell you the miles. The miles on the engine are s*** whatever he says they are. I wouldn't pay more then $1500 for it.

If you're not in a hurry, just wait. You can easily find a stock, decent running, 5spd s13 with <150k miles for <$2k. You just have to be patient.

he knows its not a 94. if it was a 94 and he said it was a 91 then it would have been ignorance.
