Has anyone here ever broken a welded diff?

What did it sound like, because I have tried fixing every damn thing in my rear end but my diff and it still clunks. (started after the last drift event)

Thanks.

clunks over bumps, small medium or large. SOUNDS like the top of my right coilover but I took it off and checked it and it seems fine.

I don't think a broken weld would give you a clunk over a bump. When I thought I broke a weld I could hear scraping and could actually feel the car budge when it was locking up cause of the broken piece, but it ended up being a ring gear bolt that came loose. I hope they dont come loose again.

but I would check other things first like suspension components. Maybe the sway bar

Parts shop max coilovers, RUCA's Welded diff.

We checked pretty much everything at my dad's shop.

The wheel bearing was bad on the right side so I just fixed that and it didn't fix the clunking. Its REALLY loud too, like the car is going to fall apart back there. It seriously sounds like the pillowball but it looks fine, and I don't think a blown coilover sounds this loud.

blown coilovers sound like that...I would check the bottom ring that holds the springs as well...if the top nut on the pillowball is loose at all, itll make a clunking sound like youre describing...Id check the coilovers in the rear before I did anything else...mine did that when I installed them, one of the top nuts was a little looser than it shouldve been,

argghhhh I even took the rear coilovers all the way off and checked them. They arent leaking and they are tight.

My friend had a very similar problem. He read on Tein's webpage (he has Tein HE coilovers) and followed some procedure for assembling the coilovers and installing. I'll see him tonight so I'll get the link to what he read if you don't figure it out. After he disassembled and reassembled them the noise went away. Just an idea.

You'd be pretty hard pressed to blow some new-ish PSM's. They are tanks.

I have a novel idea. Take the hour and drop the pumpkin, pry it open, and have a looksie... Although it'd be a waste of time because it's not your diff.

Ive had them for a little over 8 months now so yeah... there's no way to me that they would be blown.

I am gunna drop the diff tomorrow and check it out, the strange thing is it happened on my last run drifting last friday night, all of a sudden I just felt something give and it made the noise since.
