Ive got a 90' 240 and about a week ago I put a stereo in it, nothing major, used stock harness etc. About an hour after hooking it up, I noticed that my e brake and battery light was lit on my dash and a clicking noise was coming from the area around my fuse panel under the dash. Not the fuse panel itself tho. Drove with it clicking for about an hour, and my car died. Tried cranking it over, nothing. Jumped it, ran for like 30 seconds and diesd again. Looked at it in the morning started right up. Lights were out, no clicking whatsoever, so I continued to drive it. Well a week later its happend again, and this time it hasnt fixed itself. Not sure what the problem is. Acts like the battery is cooked when it dies but today it cranks over like nothing happend. Runs fine too, just does the clicking/warning light thing. Dont want to drive it till i know whats going on, does anyone have a clue as to what my problem is?

Oh, and sorry for the long post, just wanted to get all the info out there.

I'm not sure about the battery light, a failing serpentine belt can cause the light to go on. Have it checked out.

For the brake light (I'm assuming you're talking about the one in the dashbaord) there could be a couple of things things wrong. Either you're low on brake fluid or you might have a brake tailight that's out. If those are fine tell us so we can narrow this down.

Check the alternator fused link, it sounds like you popped it and it is causing a charging problem.

Oh yeah, I get that from the fact that a lot of old Jap cars wired in the alternator circuit through the brake light to act as a warning. I didn't know they did it all the way to 90, but it may have to do with the JDM motor.

I knew it had to be something like that, and im glad such a fuse exists. Im going to check it out asap tomorrow. Does anyone have a lnk to a 240 service manual, I would check it right now, but its dark and Im not 100% where to start pulling fuses.

And thanks a lot for the help guys!
