:help

Now when it comes to buying and fixing cars, I am a newbie. So I need some help.......I found a 510(not sure of the year) that this guy is selling. Now the exterior looks just fine, a few dings. The interior looks like crap, some rust on the floor pans, and all gagues missing and are being replaced with racing type, also put in a rollcage.

Now for the engine, it has a L20b and has less then 300,000 miles on it. It's missing a bunch of stuff, but he said that he will fix it for a little bit more in the price. The guy that is selling it works for a Nissan dealership, so all the parts are genuine.

He is selling it for 2500(running) or 2000(as is) what should I do.......???:help

PS ill be uploading pics tomorrow.

OK for one how bad do you want the car? Is the rust through the floor pans or just surface rust? What is missing from the L20B? Are you totaly sure its a L20B(like did you see it stamped on the right side of the motor behind the dizzy?) What do you want the car for? We need lots of info to help you on this car.

Ohhhh man i want this car super bad..... the rust not to bad from what i've seen or been told, it's like and L shape cut on the driver floor pan. A Bunch of stuff is missing but he has all the parts for it, it just needs to be assembuled. The only thing he needs is a radiator(i can get one of a vw at my work)

About the engine he put that one in, its not the orignal and it has a five speed tranny (280zx) Well i want this car because 510 are da shisssss, and it can also count as my school project thing........And I talked him down to 1700 (as is) without the fuel cell(I don't need the fuel cell), harnes, and tack. Or 1850 with the tack.

Where you from in Cali? I got a 510 too and know a lot of other people around town with Dimes that I run with. We're in the north bay.

About your radiator, I would just go with a stock 2row if you can find one on http://www.dimequarterly.com I've sold plenty of them for 20-50 bucks. I wouldnt go with the rabbit radiator just for the simple fact that it is overkill for right now and its not something that bolts on. I have the same radiator and I had to tap threads in the plastic end tanks and the inlet and outlet are on the same side so your going to have to get a different upper hose. The website above explains everything you need to know. If you feel up to I say go for it but if you just want it to run for now i'd save myself from a headache. I got one from a picknpull for 50 bucks, so they are kinda cheap. Good Luck! Later, -Mike D

That bubble flare job kinda worries me, it looks like it was hacked on there. IF that crack is not fixed, it will trap water and rust. Those are not easy to remove, or fix...kinda a tough spot.

The rabbit radiator is not overkill. I have overheated stock radiators with my old crappy L20 pretty easily. You can find the rabbit rads at most junkyards for $40. You can use an electric fan also, which you can find at a junkyard or buy a new one. the swap is very easy is does not require any major fabrication. Read the article on the DQ for more info. I would trust the rabbit rad over any 30+ year old copper POS. I just threw out a stock radiator last week too....That wiring looks like a mess too, you can obtain nice full color wiring diagrams from a link on the dimequarterly also. The rust in the floor does not look that bad. what about the trunk area? The car looks like a good project, drive it to Mt. Shasta in July for the big 510 show.

Fibreglass wouldnt be the best idea. think about it, the floor will keep on rusting under the glass. Thats what happend in our old Chevy C10. I guess it would work for awile but you might just end up falling through in a year or so.

yes I can attest to the glass over rusted floor boards... Lets just say I was LOW riding!!! I have since cut the boards, reinforced and replaced. MUCH better.. Its not the same as stock, but its cool.
