Okay, so when I bought the motor over 2 years ago, I changed all the gaskets, including head gasket to metal. I also noticed a corroded freeze plug on the back of the block that seemed to be in pretty bad shape, so I changed it too. I have noticed lately that the car is using a little coolant every week. When I was under the car getting ready to install the new motor mounts (finally) I saw a little drip of coolant in the EXACT same spot as it was when I got the motor, so it must be leaking again.

What do I need to do to prevent this from happening when I install a new one again? Is there any special cleaning or sanding I need to do to get a good seal?

Okay next problem, I changed the clutch when I bought the motor too. I need to change it, and it seams to be glazed. Is this possibly caused by the coolant leak?

And last, what recommendations do you have for a new clutch, Spec, Toda, Cusco? I need a new flywheel with this too, so if anyone has one for sale let me know or I will just go ahead and get a new one from toda of JUN.

All replies are greatly appreciated!Rich-

IDK if RTV will help w/the freeze plug or not, but you might try it.

Yes, the coolant leak could have glazed the clutch.

I have a SPEC and I like it. Make sure and have the flywheel stepped if it isn't already.

I allready know I need a new flywheel. I had the flywheel resurfaced and it was VERY close to the runout.

If anyone has one they want to get rid of let me know.

Anyone else have pointers to get a freeze plug to seal good?

I am still looking for a stock flywheel if anyone has one.

when you take it out, make sure to sand it a little w/ some emry cloth, that should clean out the deposits on the sealing point. and make sure you get the right size freeze plug, and make sure it's a brass one since they don't rust apart, so you won't have to do it again.
