i have a 90 tt z32 with 130k on it it runs daily at 14psi of boost i just wanted to know what oil brands and weights you guys use and why. the temperature here is usually in between 50 and 90 degrees F. i occasionally run it hard but was considering mobil 1 15w50 any input would be appreciated.

That sounds like overkill. I'd run a little lighter, like a 10w40. 15w is too thick for most modern motors.

Any high grade oil will do, and I agree 10W30 is right unless you are in a mostly cold climate, then use 5W30. The real secret to long engine life boils down to changing the oil regularly and not letting it go too long. It's the chemicals and deposits in the lubrication that cause wear.

thanks guys for the info, im going to go with the mobil 1 15w 50 extended performance for at least this oil change i got it for 3 dollars a quart so couldnt really pass it up i used to run it in my sr20det which saw a lot of hard driving it was probably more of an overkill on that engine than this one.

That's wayyyyyy to thick. When I said 10w40, I was saying that as the thickest oil you would ever possibly run. Seeing as it's the cold season (I'm not gonna call what you southwester guys have "winter") that oil will be brutal on startup. I'd sell the 15w50 to some ricer and get yourself a few quarts of 5w30 or 10w30.

what would be the down side to running oil this thick? would i not be getting enough protection at start up?
