ok my 97 athfinder shakes, but it isnt the regular death shake. ive changed all of the bushing in the trailing and control arms in the back with the exception of the pahhard bushings, along with new struts and shocks

now the problem, the whole car shifts from left to right when i get on the gas, then when i decellerate it stifts again from right to left so the rear still has some play somewhere. and it still shakes from time to time

could it be the panhards? or is there something else back there that im missing? everything is tight in the front btw and the alignment is good. ive had the shaking problem since i bought the truck and now with a kid a month away ive got to get it running straight or im gunna make her retarded on accident

yes it could be panhard, but doesnt have to be. Park the pathfinder, turn it off, pull the ebrake. Get on the ground under the rear, and have someone push the Pathfinder forwards and backwards, as well as side to side. See what is moving. The axle should not "twist" forwards or backwards (look at the pinion to determine if the axle is moving)

This is the best way to see what exactly is loose and causing your sway problem. As soon as i did this test, it was obvious which bushings were bad (in my case it was the rear lower trailing arms) doesnt have to be the same in your case.

I would assume it was the pan hard rod bushing BEFORE ANY other bushings. Those are the ones that keep the axle inline with the truck the most.

I Just fixed mine yesterday with brand new pan hard rods. Mine did the same thing. Step on the gas, car starts to drive crooked. Let off the gas, it goes back to normal.

Either replace the entire panhard rods, or the bushings. Either way, that is what I would suspect very first.

Too bad that's NOTHING LIKE the "Death Sway" symptoms. When reaching speeds of 55mph-65mph it start to shake violently in a lateral direction.

EMPTY V-why even post? where are you going with that? ive already fixed that and now im trying to figure out what my other problems are

thanks satan, ill check it out when it stops raining, the idea of setting the parking brake and shaking the car around sounds pretty logical and im gunna give that a shot asap

Because that doesn't sound like the death sway. If you have the death sway then troubleshoot it, not something else.
