I've decided I'm going to turbo my SOHC. I have a spare motor that was installed in my car but never pumped oil (still don't know why) so I'm going to have that one rebuilt for a turbo.

What should I do besides pistons, rings, headgasket, and main bearings?

I'm aiming for about 250 reliable whp.

I could also use some cost estimates. Thanks so much!

I searched before I posted this but didn't find anything good. I just searched again and found some stuff. Guess I was too tired/out of it to remember how the search button functions. Oops.

No biggie.

You really won't know what the engine will need until you take it apart and evaluate things. You can add alot of seals, an oil pump, water pump, and gasket maker to that list. Those are the items that make rebuilding really add up.

Well the thing wouldn't pump oil in the first place...any idea why? We changed pumps out and it still didn't.

Maybe the sprockets are stripped (unlikely).

Its a mechanical pump so if the gears turn it should spit something, unless you dont have enough oil in the sump.

clogged oil pick up...there are about 10 different things that could be stoping it from pumping oil..if you do rebuild it then make sure you blow the piss out of ever hold with an air compressor...f air doesnt flow though every hole then find out why...be very very meticulious about it all..there is nothing worse then putting your **** all in your car just to find out it isnt pumping oil...trust me its happend once on my sohc rebuild

ohh and one other thing...250 hp...my a$$ you will want more power once you get there..lol

As he said above, there are a ton of reasons. If you have driven much on that engine with it having that particular issue then I suggest looking for another engine to start your build on.
