My wife and I are thinking about buying a Versa. Weve tried the Fit and the Kia Spectra5 as well as the Versa, and so far, all seem like great " get around in the city " cars. Are basic question is this : Which of these are most comfortable for longer (2-4hr) trips. the Fit's seats weren't the most supportive and the Versa seemed the roomiest inside to us. We are spoiled by our old Volvo with it's amazingly comfortable seats. Have any of you gone on any LONG trips with the Versa ? How was it ????

Mont-Tremblant (Québec) to Ocean City (NJ) in the same day, about a nine-hour drive. Strictly no problems ! My back didn't get tired, my legs were stretched enough. We stopped at a rest area to fuel up, and I realised that I wasn't as tired as I was driving other cars.

For that, Versa does the job !

I vote the V! (especially since the fit doesn't have a dead pedal...)

I love the versa seats, they hug really well and don`t hurt my back or anything, being that i`m 6 feet tall and about 230 lbs, thats saying alot, lol... i can barely fit into most cars, but the v is no problem...

I agree with what's already been said here. The Versa is an extremely comfortable car. I especially enjoy driving it on long trips. One word of advice: I don't know if it's changed for the '08 model, but on '07s if you want cruise controll for those long trips, you have to get an SL. Ours came with it standard, but as I understand it, it's not even an option on the '07 S.

We've taken many 4-5 hour (each way) trips in our Versa with 2-4 adults and it's quite comfortable. (I've even laid the passenger seat back and slept in it overnight, and was quite surprised at the comfort.) With 34,500 miles in 11-1/2 months, I couldn't be happier with mine.

Did a 6,000 km road trip from Toronto, Ontario to Nova Scotia, found the Versa really comfortable for the whole trip, with some very long stints behind the wheel.

I've actually taken long trips in two of the cars you mentioned (more or less).

I've taken a long trip in the V, and it was comfortable from start to finish for the 4 hour drive across the state, and I did the same trip in my old '02 Spectra (the seats are virtually identical to the new Spectra5 in padding and construction). The Spectra was OK on the long trip, but my butt was definitely tired by the end in that car.

I've never been able to drive a Fit because of how nasty Honda dealers get about guarding "their preciousssss"... but I have been able to sit in one and it wasn't impressive to me.

We "downsized" from our Nissan Maxima to a Versa SL. I say downsized because you wouldn't know it. The versa is amazingly big for it's exterior dimensions. Longest so far was Ottawa->Kingston return (around 4 hours) and the versa was just as comfortable as the Maxima was. Hell, it's even quieter than the Max was!

I also took a look at the Fit and while there's no doubt it felt sportier, it also felt like your typical small car (ie. small).

the fit has a sportier suspension but you'll pay for it on the highway on longer trips.

the versa is an excellent commuter car.

the fit has better cargo utility but also feels (and is) smaller.

sounds to me like you need a versa.

(no experience with the kia)

This has changed for the '08s. Cruise control is now a $250 option on the S.

I drive 60 miles round trip to work 5 days a week, and I will say that I don't have any problems with the Versa's seats.

The other thing to take into consideration is that it's only the SL model that has height adjustable seats (at least here in Canada). That alone pushed us into the SL because the Mrs is "height challenged"

I am 5'10 200 and lovethe fit of the versa, between the teleoscoping seat (height adjustable it makes it much easier to get a better fit. I had broke my cocxyz (tail bone) and long car rides usually takes it toll on the bottom side. Did a 4 hour trip in versa without isuse. I have taken a few naps in front seat as well. It is very roomy and comfortable not only for driver but for passanger and back seat users.

I've done the 3 day 1800+ mile trip from TX to MA on my 2007 Versa S and it was very comfortable. Very pleasant highway experience.

Took a 2 hour drive in a ford escape and my legs had gone numb...

Took a 6 hour drive in the V and I was running around when I got to where I was going . Worlds better, some of the best seats I've ever had in a car.

The seats are pretty extraordinary in the Versa. Very cushiony, yet supportive, with a nice faux-suede material. I noticed yesterday though that I wish the seat was a few inches longer to extend a little further out toward my knees. It's been awhile since I've driven another car, so I don't remember how it compares. It might be normal but I could see it getting uncomfortable after a few hours. Overall though, it's a great car for the price (as long as you get a decent deal - I didn't so I'm bitter )

The "faux suede" material is on the S model.the SL model uses a flat woven cloth that is likely to hold up better over the years.

Thanks to ALL. Really appreciate the feedback. We decided to go for a Versa later this summer/Fall. Wife wants a magnetic grey version SL so thats the way to go (and she doesn't drive - go figure). Will be keeping the old Volvo 'cuz I just can't let it go.... It's important to get this kind of feeback because the dealers obviously can't loan you a V for a 4 hour drive - but I do 4 hour drives almost every week!!! Thanks again.
