I have a 93 2+2 and i want to get the whole interior done, do a TT swap and a few other things. which is probably gonna cost 5000 just in those 2 so i was wondering if you guys thought it would be smarter and worth it in the long run to buy a good condition TTZ, instead of doing all the stuff to my car now

TT Swap will cost more than that to be done right. Sell and buy.

I agree with ace. If your not invested or emotionally attached to yours the better solution is to sell it and find a tt in good condition.

its debatable. The question is what condition is this 2+2 if it looks like junk get rid of it. Do you want a stock ttz or do you want a monster. You can sell your 2+2 buy a good condition TT and still be having to pull the motor out of the TT to make it how you want. So either way the way I see it your pulling a motor out of a car. If you have to do a whole lot of other work like restoring the interior body work paint yada yada no not worth it. find another car like ace said. If you had a excellent condition 2+2 that was already perfect but just wasnt a TT thats where the debatable part comes in. Because you might end up with something better than what you could buy in the. NA gears, no HICAs, better handling etc. So do what ace says.

I agree with Ace and the rest of the guys, and will add that you KNOW how it would be rebuilding it...like everyone else, you GOTTA do some "other stuff while I'm there" and the rebuild itself hits 10 grand... :chuckle:

ya i mean you can easily spend 10k just pimping out a stock TT.. It makes a difference if its a 2+2 or a 2+0 TT to start out with but you could spend 10k on upgrades on a TT just as easily as building a motor to put in a NA. But the kicker is with such a large investment I wouldn't want to put that kind of money in anything except a really clean car. If you plan on upgrading to that level try and start out with somthing that has a good interior and body to start with, Cuz you are looking at a lot more work and money if your doing a restoration on top and it might be harder and more expensive than you think plus it might not ever look right.

My belief is TT the only reason you want to do a swap is if you want a turbo 2+2.

TT swaps are EXPENSIVE. I've spent almost 4k on mine. Do it once, do it right. If I were you, I'd sell your 2+2 and just buy a nice TT and spend the money you'd spend on a swap on upgrades

Ya I'm doing the swap on mine because don't take this out of context but I like that its bigger, I prefer the size and lines of the 2+2. I like that the rear seats fold down. I like the extra room, longer wheel base. i like throwing things on my back seat. I just like it. Think of it as a G35/G37 but sexier. Thats my taste. The length makes It look very GT-esk. I like camaros, M3s, mustangs etc. Im a fan of coupe 2+2.

That's why I chose to swap my 2+2. That and it was my first car that I bought without any financial assistance so I had a bond with it haha. Best of luck dude. If you need any help, hit me up since I've swapped on the 2+2 chassis before

I will never understand this facination with the 2+2, I've alweays thought they look ehhh at best but to each his/her own. I love my 2+0, having said that, it started life as a NA, now I am 7 years, ~$20k, blood sweat and tear, and 3 rebuilds later at 500+ whp and LOVING IT. Wouldn't have had it any other way and through it all am so happy I swapped instead of buying a TT.

its just to do with style thats all. 2+2 is just another 4 seater coup like a Supra or the pic of the GTR that i posted comparing the 2 which looks strikingly similar.. while a 2+0 is a true 2 seater sports car like a corvette. In japan and Australia they both came with a TT so there are a lot more 2+2s there. 2+2 gets no love in the US simply because its not a TT. But to give u an idea I would take lets say a Camaro over a miata. 4 seater vs a 2 seater i know that isnt a good comparison but u get the idea.

Dude, I'm from Houston, TX lol (I know you have no wau of knowing that), I know what its like in the states, I'm here in Australia working for a few years. I was just thinking to my keayboard, this debate is age old. some folks like the 2+2 others like the 2+0. Having said that, in the 4 months I've been here in Australia I think I've seen 1 2+2 and it was NA. every other Z32 here is TTop TT and NA. As for your comparison; unless there is a specific reason for me to get a maro, I would take the MX-5 everytime.

your right, I barely see any 2+2s its rare, especially a TT and only officially in AUS,UK, or japan can u find them and in the states if you see a 2+2 its almost always a beeter.

I feel like everyone else has already covered it, but, yea it all depends. Do you have an attachment? Keep it. Do you want to eventually do a motor rebuild? Keep it. Do you like the 2+2 lines? Keep it. Are you just looking to have a stock TT? Sell it, buy another.

Most people unless they're planning on investing time and money should sell... If you're one of the few who loves your current car and is willing to do whatever it takes to build a monster, then keep it and BUILD, BUILD, BUILD.

Not nearly enough room, and I'm a skinny guy.
I had a '68 Gran Torino back in those days, you could sleep together and nearly stretch out in that back seat...

ya i know i dont even know why they put a back seat in a car that small but its possible just real uncomfortable with the front seats up all the way. Pretty much your knees are on the floor. I guess for car seats and small children. In my 64 imapala I used to have I could lay down and sleep on the front seat lol

Ahh, bench front seats...the Torino had buckets, but you tip them forward and it made the whole rear seem to open up.
I did however do a lot of "business" in my old fastbacks I owned early in life, my gf at the time loved my GTA and we ended up finding her a near-identical dark green 302-swapped GT.
That fold down back seat was the only way to go... :mike
