Need some advice/ help! I have a 91-93 tt engine with some problems.
First it started dying at idle, didn't do anything to fix that and then it started idling high, like around the 2500-3000rpm range. Started messing around and making sure that all the loose vacuum lines are blocked off or fixed, still really high. Then I adjusted the idling screw and lowered it down to around 1000-1200, won't seem to go any lower in idle than that. But now it is missing under power. What could be the issue with it? Any ideas would help. I have to drive from VA to CO tomorrow so kinda in a time crunch.

Check your TPS sensor. Make sure that its at .42v. You may want to remover your IAC valve and clean it out as well.

+1 clean out the IAC valve... Mine had the same problem a while back and that fixed it for me.

+1, the sudden idle issues with low idle first and then high sounds like a dirty MAF, as mine was recently. Spray MAF cleaner and presto, perfect idle again...worth a shot, and good to have around (MAF cleaner) anyway!

I made it to Colorado without any major issues. There were two things that noticed and that are still currently bugging me. The first is the brake and light idiot lights are on and when i decelerate they dim and there is a buzzing noise coming from the left side of the dash. The second is that I burned a lot of oil and there is a lot of burning oil smell coming from the car. I removed the charge pipes from the intercooler and there was a nice coating of oil on the ones coming from the turbos. This is on both turbos. The car seems to be running fine. The car seems to be down on power, this may be due to the change from sea level to 5500 ft. It doesn't feel like it is pulling boost until about 42-4500rpm. I haven't installed my boost gauge on it yet but I plan on doing it on this weekend.

Is there any way to start ruling out problems with the car. I am thinking the turbos are going bad, but both at the same time. I am hoping that it is not anything to serious.
