hey this is my first post here ive been on other nissan forums the past few days and it just doesnt seem like there is alot of activity there.
So the situation.
I have swapped out/tested nearly every part on my 97 altima (160k miles) in order to try and fix this issue. The issue is that the car runs fine when it is dead cold for about 1 minute then it starts to run like crap. As it gets warmer the crappier it runs, (like it has a bad vacuum leak, or like its on 3 cylinders (but its on all 4) It wont stall though. Unfortunatly i bought the car like this. It is nearly impossible to drive it on the road like this. with the tps unplugged it has alot more power and isnt near as sluggish, unless it was still cold the day i did that. But the tps was tested and swapped and did not help my situation, fuel pressure good, ect. Like i said when it is dead cold and you start it and rev it its all there and revs up super quick like a nissan should. I checked dist for oil, swapped the dist from one in the junkyard that was sideswipped, checked dist with multimeter. Im really leaning toward bad headgasket but it doesnt overheat! Compression is very close to 180. Fuel injectors swapped out and ohmed, ive been ripping apart engines for around 8 years so im not sum clueless guy. I just bought a combustion leak tester to test for exhaust gases and it turned the fluid green. I dont know if my thermostat was open though so im guessing that makes a difference. OH and i almost forgot i ripped the intake off and did both of those gasket only to find out that wasnt my problem! So basicly are these the symptoms of a bad headgasket on this car? I dont drive the car and hate to run it this way but i run it quite a bit trying to figure it out and dont notice any loss of coolant, oil on dipstick looks fine. the spark plugs all have a white tip, none show any wetness, Im seriouly fighting a battle with this car and any help is greatly appreaciated thanks
other parts i swappe to try and alleviate issue and things i tried
computer
mass air flow
temp sensor tested good
all pcm reference signals are good
sprayed carb cleaner all around injector seals/egr ect looking for vacuum leak
plugs and wires were new when i bought the car from po trying to fix it along with new dist cap
Also i hooked up a vacuum gauge to the brake booster and im only gettin 9-13in of vacuum, the book says it should have 17-22 so thats why i did the manifold gaskets which didnt help at all
i looked at that the disc in the distibutor and i never see any oil on it.
