Glad to be a new member. I need some real help. This is my first 350z and I'm trying to start off on the right foot. I am not looking to go ALL out just yet but need some advice on where to start. I have a 2006 Nissan 350z Coupe version. Its the basic stock version. Below are the items I want to start off with. If you have some advice where better to start please step in and reply if I am starting with the wrong areas.

1) I want it to sound good. I heard X02 is a good exhaust. Only thing is I don't know if I can get certain exhausts because my vehicle is not a twin turbo yet. I love the sound of the X02. So if you know something that will fit my vehicle without the twin turbo that sounds like the X02 then please let me know.

2) Intake- I know nothing about good intakes. Need a lot of advice here.

3) Size of wheels and tires. I heard you stay within 18 inch if you want to take the car out on the track. I won't be going out on the track much, but am wanting the "look" to be the main attraction. (Obviously speed and power is also a goal as well) I read some articles saying to have the back width wider. I need a lot of help here of what dynamics to go with. I know its all about what looks the best to you, but I am open to ideas.

Anything else you can recommend that will improve HP without having to drop a ton of money would help too. Thanks again for all the help.

Cory

1. About the exhaust, I will go with nismo they have great sound, turbo or non turbo Also HKS are very know for good sound. IF you change the headers and go with straigh pipe you will have a loud horrible sound you remember this, you don't want to sound like a Honda.

2. Intake, AEM sounds great and good horse power, i just removed mines to supercharges my z.

3. About the wheels, Anything after 18" will make your car traction go on, disabling all your gears because the computer thinks you are slipping. There for you have to maintain your traction off. The highest i will go is 20".

1. First off, you don't need to be TT to have a mean growl. Stay away from the HKS knock off. Sound quality wise Nismo S-Tune keeps the VQ notes but a little more deeper......very mean at WOT!

2. Drop in filter. The velocity stack rings serves its purpose. The 06' airbox is the "best" possible design you can get. Don't listen to all the ignorant ram or CAI people rant about. Heat soak is not your engine's friend. Stay away from aluminum piping or air boxes that will flatten your wallet. Those are more for show rather than proper function. If you want to upgrade, just do a K&N drop in and you're set.

3. Size depends on use. 18's are generally lighter and good for DD. If you want baller status go 19's and if you decide to go 19's your "MUST" go wide and aggressive. Nothing kills a car more faster than wheels and proper fitment. When you decide what size you want, I can give you specs.

Exhaust--- Nismo S-tune or HKS true dual

Intake--- I'm surprised no one has mentioned the JWT pop charger, looks to be a favorite choice among z and g guys, or is the 06 that much different from 03-05????

Wheels--- This is where Z guys get there baller look. Me personally I wouldn't skimp. No less than 18s for aftermarket wheels. Go fatter in the rear to fill out the rear fenders. Look around at pics of peoples cars and find what you like, then ask them what sizes they have.

Everyone will have their own opinion, do what YOU want not what other people want you to do.

Exhaust- Xo2 is a knock off (HKS), I have the RS*R exmag and i love it. Many lean towards HKS Hi power, Basani and Greddy Evo TT.

Intake- Your 06 has a pretty well designed box. A simple K&N will do just fine.Other aftermarket intake might not even make a positive difference in HP. Some will even take away HP in the lower power band.

Wheels- I personally like the stock GT setup like Blacksmoke's. 18x9 up front 19x10 in the rear.

Good luck and welcome to the club!

I would like to do the 19 set up. What would you suggest? Someone was saying something about going bigger in the back? Would I do 18's in the front and 19's in the rear? Or would I just being doing 19 all the way around and having wider tires in the back? Let me know what the best set up would be to go with? Also, I have a silver 350. I was wanting to go with a wheel that is black with a good lip (Chrome Lip). How big of a lip can I go without pushing it. Thanks a ton

I would recommend 19's all around. Offsets in this range, front: +15 to +25 & rear: +20 to +25.If your going to spend some good money on rims also spend the $$$$ on high quality tires too!Front: 245/35/19 Rear:275/35/19 or 275/30/19.I have iforged rims w/custom offsets but I would suggest to you the Axis Shine rims.http://www.axiswheels.com/wheels.php

Dont Listen to them

1. Exhaust.. I love the Nismo Exhaust with test pipes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGcsd047zV8

Or if your badass enough than go with the Longtube headers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU2h0JTq2fk

2. JWT Jim Wolf Technology Intake! Great intake, I had one.

3. Wheels.. Wanna be clean and show some off, Than go with 19" with a deep dish! Think about going to the track or AUTOX than 18" are the wayBut i think 18" sometimes look small

There Ya go problems solved! Welcome

I recently modded my car (details & pictures in another thread) and went with the following:

Injen Intake (good choice, sound + looks, no idea on power)DC Sports headers (nice)Megan Racing cats (nice)HKS True Dual Exhaust (so-so, good sound but problems with fitment).

Other mods I did:

ECU reflashMotordyne Plenum SpacerMotordyne MREV 2QAS Lightweight FlywheelQAS Short Shifter (hated it, changed it back to stock. STAY AWAY)

I am also looking into cams, heads, springs, (another reflash or probably UTEC), 3:9:1 final gears and an aftermarket LSD.

I am staying N/A.

What about 20's? I see that some people put 20's on their rides. I am going for more of the look vs. racing. I mean yea I want it to be fast but I wont be racing it. Will 20's rub in anyway? Like when you do a full left/right turn will it rub the wheel well? Should I staggered this set up as well? What type of wheel measurements should I go with? Will a +35 offset work? Also, in the future I am looking to do a body kit. I would be going with the 350Z Ravage Body Kit. Would these wheels be a problem in the future for this style of body kit? Thanks for all the help.

I have 20" all around and like i said in my previous post, you should be fine without touching anything if you go with low pro wheels and just keep in mind that you will have slip in your dash with you try to race or speed up, keep your traction off.

1)Exhaust-personal preference in sound, however keep with a single pipe set up on N/A or something dual with an "X" pipe to mix the exhaust banks.

2)intake- drop in a K%N for most gains...CAI dont do much.

3)Wheels-19" for looks, 17" for track
