Basically i have a 2003 US spec automatic 350z my old vq35de has had some problems, iv recently bought a well maintained vq35hr 350z engine, do you think the vq35hr would fit on my 2003 model 350z?
Keeping in mind the vq35hr is also a 350z engine and not the Infiniti one.

Yes, it will fit. But the larger issue is that it's not really worth it.

Did you buy a compete engine, ecu, harness and accessories or do you just have the engines, or do you just have a shortblock?

Whatever you have it's going to be easier, and far cheaper, in the looking run to just get the issues with your stock engine sorted out. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hate seeing people wasting their time and money.

Alternator, water pump, power steering pump ac compressor, etc...ie: belt driven accessories. The front covers on the HR and the DE are different so, the accessories from one won't bolt directly to the other because of different mounting holes - you'd need to fabricate some sort of bracket or adapter.

I just keep seeing all sorts of issues (that are going quickly add to your cost) besides just fabbing some brackets too, either the ecu for the HR or a standalone EMS, then the whole process of running the new wiring harness for the HR. And that's just of the top of my head, who knows what's going to pop up if & when you start to actually do it, and by that time, it's too late to change course because of the amount of money invested.

If you want a more detailed cost you should contact a known shop like Z1 or Forged Performance and get estimates for both the HR swap and fixing & improving your blown DE.
