It doesn't seem like many people have these j4 ecu's. It is for a type X motor, but is my motor actually a type X? I'm having a fealing it's not. Reason being, when I'm on highway cruisin' at 75mph my rpm's are over k4000. It doesn't seem right at all. The motor really has no power(needs to be tuned) to it, or in other words, doesn't pull. I don't mind posting a vid if anyone thinks that will help. Enthalpy hasn't returned any of my emails, I thaught that was weird, there known for customer service... Any suggestions would be highly apprieciated!! Any more info you need please let me know...

Here's my mod's: afc neo, bov, huge intercooler, alluminum pully's, cometic HG, 3" all the way back, and this megan drift spec catback is da ****!! Highly recommend...

J4 ECU's will run any S13 SR as long as they have the correct wiring harness and a couple of sensors changed. So if your engine is running then the fact that its a J4 ECU isnt your problem. There is something wrong with your setup. Whether its an improper sensor, poor tuning, or broken parts, its hard to tell.

I have a black top. Ok so speedracer, I'm thinking my mechanic not knowing it was a type x motor wired it up wrong.? So I just should have it tuned then or do I need to find these problems first? the motor now has 6K miles on it. Any other ideas?

I barely read your initial post. Your speed/rpm issue has NOTHING to do with your ECU. The speed is directly proportional to your RPM in 5th gear. The only things that will change the rpm compared to speed is the gearing of the transmission and the final drive in the rear differential.

If I remember correctly my car ran 65 mph at 3000, and about 80 mph at 4000. You are only about 5 mph off my readings in my car. So there is a possibility your speedo is just slightly off. This can happen when someone uses an SR vs KA speed sensor because the SR sensor has like one more or less tooth than the KA on the gear ring. Its barely a noticeable difference to most people.
