need screen to stop rocks hitting SMICs

in a nutshell: I removed my foglights and cut the housings to get more air to the Godspeed SMICs

how do I stop rocks from hitting the SMICs? a screen? a mesh? whatever is used, how do I attach it to the housing? staples?

Something more substantial than window screen safety wired to the face of the core.

Chicken wire with a finer screen (window screen) attached behind would work great because the chicken wire will hold where ever you put it then just use the screen and bend the chicken wire how you want. Most people use zip ties.
