So my right rear window regulator died. I see some listed on www.car-part.com but I hesitate to buy something brittle that's over 25 years old without seeing it first.

Man I miss the days of easy parts buying. I've seen the Amayama mentioned here before. Is this everyone's preferred source for ordering parts out of Japan? It's surprisingly reasonable cost wise. $72.44 + $26.13 shipping. The last one I ordered from Scottsdale was $75 in 2005.

I've been using Amayama for pretty much everything OEM I've purchased, since there's almost nothing available through Infiniti dealers any longer. Shipping has been slow (3-4 weeks) and expensive, but when it's the only alternative...

I've used Amayama a few times. They have to "approve" every order. You get assigned a non-real time chat window with your agent. Very Japanese with the layered labor approach. But.....inspite of that, as you mention--the parts cost is in many cases a lot less than it would be in the US, and that's even if you could still buy it here. But as you say, the shipping is a killer. They do ship by air express though, so once your order ships (the waiting part is between order and shipment), you get it quick. Heavy items are a no-go in many cases, but you can also add a lot of 'light stuff' (hoses) that you'll need some day for very little additional shipping.
