I write because my friend has a qx4 and asked me to help him with his stereo.

He wants to replace his speakers (bose sound system, stock) and possibly add a more powerful amp and subs in the back.

I tried looking around for guides to opening the dash and speaker grilles, but have not been able to find much information- can you advise? Also- can you add an amp and subs directly to the stock bose system, or do you need an entirely new head unit with pre-outs for a new amp? I have an older accord and I upgraded its sound myself- the honda's own stock radio had no outputs of any kind, plus the radio's sound was bad, so i replaced the head unit and added subs and an amp to that. I was wondering if I need to do the same for a qx4, i sort of hate to replace a bose system.

Do you have a picture of what the backside of the stock qx4 head unit looks like? Can you advise on the connectivity of this unit? Can you provide help with any online resources regarding this topic?

thanks- Vince

Check out the Bose thread. Best way to do it is to replace everything. It can be done. Check the Bose thread and get back with us.
