Hi AllThe car battery in my 07 Versa is dying. I have to turn the key twice before it will turn on. I just want to get some advise from your guys about which brand and what specs of battery I should get. There is no info about it in the owner's manual and I am a car dummy so any info are welcome.

Thanks

sounds more like corroded or loose connection somewhere. clean and re-tighten the battery terminals to start.

a battery USUALLY lasts 4-5 yrs, dependent on user.

I personally suggest the Optima red top battery, for here (and I see you're from PA where it can get cold) it has a great amount of CCA for those cold morning starts. Some places have their version of Optima that is pretty much the same specs but usually a bit cheaper.

As far as your plain jane batteries go, if I remember right, there's only like 3 main companies that are behind the multitudes of battery brands. So as long as you go with something like a Die Hard Gold or an Interstate and not some super cheap Walmart battery, you should be just fine.

I recommend the red top as well. I had one before and it was great.

i will buy one again when the time comes to replace mine. Also, check your terminals. I have an 07 as well and unless you've completely discharged your battery a few times before, it should not be so weak.

Sears DieHard Gold. And it's smart to get the maximum CCA's for your car( cold cranking amps) as another poster mentioned. Just look it up in the manual with the batteries at Sears. Don't get the cheaper Sears "Plus Start" line. I had one of those, and it wouldn't crank the engine over as soon as it got below 20 degrees F. That's why I installed the Sears Gold. Pretty expensive. Around a hundred bucks, but worth it.
