Need Rear Main Oil Seal Info. ASAP

I just replaced the rear main oil seal in my 1997 Nissan pickup 2.4 engine . I used a small screwdriver and hammer to remove the old seal . Didn't damage the flange . When I installed the new seal I pushed it all the way in with my fingers . I expected to have to tap it in . I'm concerned it's not fitting tight enough . Is this normal or not ? TIA

I called the service department at the nearest Nissan dealer and they said it was normal for the seal to go in that easy and that it would be fine . I'll soon know if it leaks or not . Keeping my fingers crossed .
