yes change the rear end out to change the final drive ratio, the ka n rb20 transmission r the same or very similar ratios in their trannys

because your stock tachometer is not calibrated correctly.this is not a gear ratio but an electrical issue.

Is your speedometer calibrated to read properly? How about your tach?

If so, you definitely don't have a stock diff.

how can you tell the gears are short...these engines sound like they're revving higher than they are.i highly DOUBT you are almost at redline in 3rd doing 65 and seriously think its your tach.you could swap out differentials and make your life harder but why bother if its just a uncalibrated tach.

LOL @ this thread..

Do some searching. I don't even know if there is a differential with short enough gearing to have you at that engine speed and wheel speed.

Evan

BTW; the gears DO feel short, nature of the beast with the rb.

Rev it in neutral until you hit the rev limiter. Where does it read on your tach?

If you have not calibrated your tach, it will read 1.5x higher than it really is. so when you think you're at 7k, you're really at ~4.6k. search some and you'll find how to recalibrate the s14 tach.
