Well I just picked up a motor off someone with all the emissions deleted. (might be the problem)

But anywho, I got the motor installed, all the wires ran, minus the 2 solenoid wires, since all the emissions are gone.. and the radiator, now im new to KA's so Im wondering do i need the radiator hooked up to just get the motor to fire?

I got fuel, spark, and timing set, but it doesnt want to start. Just keeps cranking..

Anyone know?

Fuel/Air/Spark. Make sure to check that you have those three things working the way they are supposed to. The radiator being hooked up to check to see if it will start makes no difference. You said that you have 2 solenoids that arn't hooked up. If you are talking about your IACV and the other which I can't recall the name of, they ARE neccesary to be hooked up for start up. I would also check that you have the distributor in the right location as well. With the engine at top dead center you should have the rotor tip pointing to the number 1 spark plug wire terminal on the cap. I would also recomend that you double check that you are getting fuel.

IACV is all hooked up.

the 2 solenoids im talking about are the ones originally connected behind the head with the mess of vacuum lines, Like so:

The solenoids are the 2 black boxes.

Everything looked timed perfect when i picked the motor up from the fella. but ill triple check tomorrow..

Defianatly getting fuel, pulled the return line off rail and it was pouring out.

One more question, will the FPR work running off the the line by the brake booster? (green Line)

#1.)..i have NO iaac crap on my car and it starts fine..so thats a debunked wives tale ..#2.) i dont have the egr crap ither..thats the little valves on the backl of the block that activate vacume to the egr..and i run fine....

with those 2 debunked..i have this to say to you as great advise..

Never rush to finnish your project!..dont risk your investment by doing shoddy work...

yes you can start up a car without a radiator working..but you may pay a price for it!..example..if you have a run on engine( one that wont shut down) then you would overheat in a few minutes and waste that blco..pistons..rods..everything..take your time bro..hope ya see the light.

I would never ever start or run a water jacketed motor without water. Just not really a good idea.

However it will still run.

It's prob safe to crank it and run it for a few seconds as long as it's got oil. The purpose of the water is to cool it, if its not hot there's nothing to cool. However anymore than a few seconds is a bad idea. There might not be any heat before you start it but with no water in it, it will heat up VERY quickly.
