I'm sitting here trying to do a transmission swap for a friend, the car arrived at my house with just a motor in it, no transmission, and then the transmission i was given to put in arrived seperately of the car. So i cannot be sure that this transmission is right for this car.

It's a 95 240sx SE, bone bone BONE stock. Transmission housing has TA71B #8 cast into it.

The problem i'm running into is that the bellhousing of the trans is hitting the transmission tunnel well before it is even close to centered out for a clean stab into the crankshaft.

Bear in mind i've never done a transmission drop/swap on a 240sx before, so if there are special little tricks to this, i don't know them and they didn't turn up in searches. Regardless i need to get this thing out of my garage by tonight so any info would be greatly appriciated.

I use to think the Z32-TT trans i have stuffed in my L series Z was a pain in the *** to do... but this 240sx is making me reconsider with a quickness.

**edit/addition**and yes, i do have the crank position sensor out of the top of the bellhousing.

try tilting the motor back to get better access.

I know when i used to change SR boxes (weekly at one stage, 38 mins out and in on my back) that you need to fit it up 90 degrees out and rotate it into position once the input shaft is seated in the clutch and spigot.

90 degrees counter clockwise if facing the front of the engine?

if so thats where i'm at now, loosened the mount/crossmember nuts to there last few threads, rotated the box 90 degrees counter clockwise, and i'm waiting for a buddy to show up w/ a spare jack to tilt the motor w/ since my jack is currently suspending the box in the air.
