First off, I know this is the wrong forum, but no one ever wanders into the audio side and I have a problem that needs to be addressed now.

basics: I'm stalling my own audio system. Ive installed and ran the front woofers and tweeters into the cross overs and wired that all the way back to the trunk (both sides). I also installed the rear speakers (i was shocked how how complete garbage the stock ones were in comparison) and wired that. Now at the trunk I have all the wires I need to hook up to the amplifier, BUT I have one problem...... the head unit doesn't take RCA's to hook into my Amplifier.

I've done alot of searching and found some threads but it wasn't answered. The back of the stock head unit looks like this,

Image

If you have any idea on how to hook up an amplifier to the stock head unit, PLEASE, inform me.

I brought it to a near Audio shop and they sold me a $20 harness which apparently tells me what wires are which. (example: 3rd white wire over is Left Front speaker (+) and 4th black wire is Left Front speaker (-) .....) Now From what I understand I'm supposed to CUT, the wires as they come out of the head unit and attach them to my own wires and run it back to the amplifier and hook them up into a 8 wire plug that came with my Amplifier.

Image

This is my poorly drawn example. Gray = the crimp .. Red = wire I insert, and the yellow/blue wires are just my attempt of drawing the wires coming from the head unit extended.

I REALLY don't want to screw anything up (cutting wise) and have to bring it to the dealership to get a whole new wiring harness put in because I acted and didn't research. Thanks for any help!!

once again sorry for the wrong section, but i don't like driving around with headphones in listening to music, and I need to fix it now

Your amplifier doenst have a line level input? Can you post some pics of the amp?

EDIT: Just saw it does.

MOST amplifiers will also have line level input, in which case you do exactly what it appears you are aiming at. Tap the speaker wires and send them back to the line level input. Are you asking if the colors are correct?

Also, Im assuming you have the non Bose OEM headunit? If so, you could have jumped the wires at the rear deck from the 6" x 9" speakers and saved the trouble of cutting harnesses. Only problem there is you lose front/back fade.

Okay so as soon as the wires come from my head unit, i cut them and attach it to my own wire, and run it to my trunk where I attach it to my line level input on my amp correct? (just verifying). The wires coming out of my head unit I should be able to tell which is which by plugging in this harness I bought. (hope its right)

Yes I have the non-bose OEM head unit (I just think it looks best). Well I haven't cut any factory wiring yet, because I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing first lol. But your saying I can simply cut the rear 6x9 speakers and split them into my line level input? that means all the sound is coming from the factory stock wire, isn't that going to be worse quality then running my own wires from the control back to the amp? (I may not have any idea what I'm talking about here lol).. I don't care about front/rear fade at all lol, But maybe thats because my rear speakers before were paper thin pieces of junk lol

The wire coming off the back of the headunit is the same wire running into the speaker in the rear deck. If you are worried about cutting harnesses and NOT worried about front/back fade then jump the signal from the rear deck. You MAY lose some audio if the audio you are listening to is faded front left, front right, etc., but it should be minimal. Obviously the best way is to tap each channel and connect appropriately to the amp (front left speaker to front left line input, front right speaker to front right input, rear right speaker to rear right input, etc.).

What is your plan on wiring from the amp back to the speakers? Are you running brand new wire or tapping into the original? To be honest, with all of the work you are already doing, you may as well go ahead and swap out the headunit as well. You may not get the results you want from the speakers alone.

EDIT: Also check out this thread to cross reference colors:

BTW, Im not sure if the line level term Ive been using is correct, honestly I cant remember what most amp manufacturer's call it. But it seems as if though we are talking about the same thing. If you could post some pics of the amp I may be able to help you a bit more effectively.

I know, in all honesty I WISH i liked new head units, but I just don't. they are so ugly to me lol. I realize it would be so easy to add in and get better quality, but the looks just aren't there lol. I have new wires ran all by myself and haven't touched the factory wires. I simply unplugged them from the speakers and pushed them into the door lol.

I'm in the same boat as you haha. I might consider getting one when someone comes out with one that's good looking and has a easy to use and stylish UI.

Clarion VZ409 single din flip out. Its alright, the iPod integration is terrible. If I had to do it again I defintiely would have saved for something else. Fabbed the tray in myself, comes in handy for holding iPod and such. Otherwise, meh...

Alpine INA W900BT or W910. Expensive, but worth every penny. I kind of bought that head unit on a whim without researching it too much.

Technically yes. If you know much about soldering and a little electronics fabrication then you could tap into the front auxiliary and mount a jack in the back.

Why do you want it in the back and not the front? Run it down into the cubby below the radio?

from the back you can easily run it into the cubby hole, i dont see how you could do that with a clean look on the front lol.

You couldnt, thats what I was saying. It really shouldnt be hard, you will need to get an aux cable and just cut it up, splice into the 3.5mm front input, and run it down to the cubby.

I would have to take a look at it, and my OEM headunit is currently buried in my basement somewhere amongst the rest of my OEM parts.
