i don't think you have to, you might be able to get by jacking the motor up and dropping the pan enough to get the cover off. but why not just get into it and find out what it takes in order to get the cover off?

usually forums are there for help and support no matter how lame or simple a question is.. if someone wants to be an a**hole to a guy asking a simple tech question the a**hole should get off the site.

i dont care how long ive been on this site lol.. just saying there's no need for anyone to be a d!ck to someone asking for help. I was saying that to the chick telling him to get a manual because people on this site wont help but only ***** about asking for help.

Well, here's the reason he was getting flack.

> He was asking a technical question and didn't include any car or engine info (I edited his thread when I moved it to the KA24E/DE specific engine sub forum).

> He posted a Tech question in Gen Chat.

> It appears he didn't do enough research prior to starting to work on his car and now needs an urgent answer.

> If he searches he'll probably find the info he needs, there's a few tech articles that discuss timing chain work on both the KA24E and KA24DE.

didn't say he was doing it right. i agree the original poster did it very incorrect and sloppy. i also agree people should do research before posting a tech thread (especially in wrong area). but since he did post a question there's no reason for people to be d!ck, just answer it and leave it alone. just my two cents..

i guess im new to the nissan forums but so far there seems to be some stuck up a**holes, that think they are better than everyone else on the site when really they started from square one at some point and needed help too. (note i didn't say all nissan forum members).

as a member of the nissan community for the last 4 years i totally agree we can be total bungholes. I am guilty of this myself. but i agree with Kori on this one. If u dont have any useful info to post in this thread just dont post.

im gona chime in with somthing positive...while your there man if your looking at timing chain issues..it is a good idea to drop the oil pan anyways..just to look for metal debris and to check the sump/oil inlet for the infamous upper chain guide or parts there of...thats my advice...i wish ya luck.

you have to removes old pan, and it is a miserable job you have to jack engine up, removed the stupid little braces that Bolt to the transmission, unbolt oil pick up and let it drop into the oil pan if you have AC to bracket it gets in the way a little bit and the car drips oil you and the whole time, it's not a fun job

you have to take the oil pan off because the oil oump is made on to the timing cover. the oil pan is in the way of the oil pick up. becarful you don't try to force the timing cover off.
