hi everyone. i'm new to this board and a new 240sx owner. i just bought and 89 fastback and i plan on putting some money into it, but before that i need it to start. since i've bought it (about a month ago) i've had to replace the alternator and the belts which set me back a couple hundred and now i need a new starter. Anyone know where i can find a new or remanufactured starter fairly cheap, the best i've seen around is $130-ish. any help?

oh yeah and the only other problem i can find in the engine is this(the picture, and yes that is duct tape melted in the hole)... what is it (its coming of the air intake from one hose) and does anyone know where to find a replace part?

duuude, I used to have one of those just chillin in my garage from an old swap! You missed it by like 2 months! damn...

that sucks, do you know what it is and what it does? and even if it is really hurting the engine because of the huge hole???

oh yeah, some other parts i need is a front driver's side (left) side turn signal light, mine is completely broken. i also need a replacement center console peice, i don't know what it looks like, mainly because i've never seen it, but heres a pic of what missin. ANY help with any of this is very appreciated, because i can't seem to find anything for the console and i don't want to waste like 40$ on a turn signal. thanks in advance

Unless anyone else here knows what it is, I'll ask my mechanic today what it is and get back to you. As for the replacement for the center console, look to the side at all of our sponsers! Im pretty sure that one of them does the center console, as like an interior dash kit of some sort. I will also get back to you on the turn signal...

thanks, let me know when you find out, i know its a pretty cheap part, but i can't buy it if i don't know what its called.also i've been looking for starters for the past week, and all day today and still nothing cheap enough. it looks like most sites have them for around $130-$200, and some core price next to it which makes them more like $160-$250, so i guess i'm screwed by wasting another couple hundred on just getting the damn car to start... regretting buying this damn thing. i could have put an exhaust in with the money i've put in just repair.... bull****:mad: ... well if any one sees anything, tell me!!:help :help

Thats your AIV valve you can remove it with no adverse affects on the engine. search and you can find a walkthrough on how to do it, that will save you some cash.

yeah trash the whole assembly buy nissan part # 14052-21R00 to plug the exhaust manifold, 5/8 & 3/8 caps to plug the intake, and 2 little caps (1/8 3/16?) for the solenoid vacuum lines.

you can probly find the starter and everything else in the NICO classifieds section (where this post should go). starters can be tested for free at a local autozone pep boys etc.
