I'm getting ready to replace the trans (or rebuild) in my 92 Q and I wanted to do a little maintenance on the car at the same time.

First, I'm planning on getting NICO ecu from wes sometime in September when he's up and running again.

I want to replace my TCU with a unit from 93 Q

I found a used trans from 95 Q, but I'm not sure if this will work on the 92 Q (gearing, etc..)

Where can I get Tokico Blue Shocks? do you guys have any part numbers?

Do you guys have PN's and good source for the trans mount and exhaust hangers?

Any links for engine guide issue and fix?

Lot of questions, thanks for all the help.

FIRST, welcome to NICO!

1. Perfect!2. Good deal, you can also do from a 94 or 95, its 95% as good and sometimes theyre easier to find.3. You could put in a 95 trans, but it woudlnt have the more ideal gearing (less than 10% different in 1st gear....) it would physically bolt up and work, you probably wont notice any difference4. Get them from joe at infiniti of scottsdale, he sells his with the dust boots, and trust me HIS PRICE IS UNBEATABLE..... his contact info is in my sig, tell him you know Wes5. Get from Joe.6. Check the infiniti articles and Q45.org. Has ALL info you need.

Thanks Wes...appreicate the help.

Hey, I'm thinking about 19x8.5" Sport wheels from M35/45, what do you think? I'm not sure how the thin spokes would look on the Q.

yeah.... they wont work, they have (IIRC) 50mm offset, which is too much for the Q.. You could run a 15mm spacer and theyd be fine, but i dont like spacers so i wouldnt recommend them.

So I need to stick to 65mm (+/-) offset wheels for proper fit? I'll have to check the 18" M wheels.

Also, I send email to Joe, thanks for the contact info.

I also wanted to know if there is a good source for trans shift kit to firm up shifts? There is shop in Cali (forgot name) that will re-work the whole valve body but I don't have $500 to blow on that.

Unless you need the parts today use Everything Infiniti as Wes suggested. You'll save 25% which will more than pay for the shipping for the transmission mount and hangers. Here's the P/N from my '94 but you should verify that they are the same for your '92. You'll notice a huge difference in the ride after replacing them. It's an easy DIY that will bring a smile to your face when you're done.

transmission Mount 11320-60U02 $119 (last year's prices)Exhaust Hangers 20610-60U00 $20 X 2

The pic in your sig doesn't look like anywhere in Tennessee. The waves gave it away. It does look a lot like the view from Palos Verdes though. Nice place and a clean looking car.

Nope, you need more like a 35mm offset.

There are several ideas of what Inf/Nis OEM wheels that work on the Q's in the G50 check in sticky. With the exception of the latest M35/45 wheels, most work well.

Yeah...that's not Tennessee....it is PV. That's where I used to live and where I bought the car. Our friends had the car since new and dealer serviced all of its life (recently $3000 fuel injector service). The car is clean with 75K miles and with service records going back to day one I didn't anticipate any problems with the car. I think the hills of PV took its tool on the transmission.

Interior is very clean, I think back seat has seen one or two passengers in its lifetime. The driver door handle and leather near the handle is wearing. The driver seat is starting to crack with slight separation. for the most part its clean.

Our friends ended up buying a 2006 GS430 instead but they really miss their Q.

I got a quote really fast last night. The trans mount is $99, but they sent me a diagram for the exhaust system. Not sure which one I need but I'll try the match the part number you guys posted.

last night I read through the chain guide issues....I need to find the service records to the car, I hope it was replaced. My $3,000 great find is turning into a money pit.

Well, there is a reason a $48K (1992) car turns into a $3K (2006) car - it's called deferred maintenance.

You did read Wes excellent how to buy a G50 article, right?

Submit VIN to a friendly service writer and to Infintini Customer Service as the new owner to obtain Infiniti dealer performed work. Dealer may get you a printed version after the files are retrieved from the archives.

Oh, and don't mess around and get the Nissan remanufactured transmission form Joe. Be sure to add a ATF cooler.

To be honest, I knew the pitfalls going into it.

I'm weighing my options for the transmission, even rebuilding it myself. I'm a little skeptical of the JDM transmissions. I don't know if I can believe the average mileage numbers they advertise.

I'm definitely doing the trans cooler and external filter modifications along with 93 TCU.

Our friends lived a walking distance from that point. That's where the car spent most of its life. I lived a few minutes away in Redondo Beach. Work has moved me to TN.

I'm sure the TN gave it away, but yes.
