I just pondered the fact that if i get a flat, my donut isn't going to do the job since I have Z32 front brakes and putting donuts on the rear is a no-no. I'm wondering if I managed to get a hold of a OEM S13 alloy for my car as a spare, can I also run it as a donut when I switch to 16" SSR's this summer? Or do I have to buy a spare 15" and a spare 16" ?

if you are gonna get it repaired right away, either will do. It will cause some uneven wear, but if you are only driving like 5 miles to the next repair station or something like that, no big deal. Also, you can probably get a tire size that will very closely match the 16 rims.

If you are a really anal person, you would buy another ssr as a spare and keep it in rotation to even out wear. Or maybe even 2.

Just make sure you keep that s13 alloy inflated because reg wheels lose air a lot faster than wheels made specifically for spare use.

Also, you may want to get a 5mm spacer or something to go along w/ the spare if your spare doesn't clear front rim (unless you want to replace good tire in rear w/ spare, and move that good one to the front when the front blows).

Hmm...

Well, in the case of a repairable flat, i'd take it somewhere within the same day or the next day. If it was a on a trip though, I'd like to have the correct rim/tire size so I could continue safely to the destination. So I'm figuring a spare S13 alloy for the winter, and I'll have to find some cheapo 16" wheel and slap a cheap tire on it and keep it in the trunk for the summer.
