am i right in thinking that switching to synthetic oil on a 100, 000 km CA can put it at risk of spinning a big end bearing or other serious damage because synthetics are too slippery and thin for an old motor?

when i changed my KA over to Redline oil at 200, 000 km it was fine until i put it to the test and spun a rod bearing later that week..

I have always used Castrol GTW and Lucas oil stabilizer in all my cars and my old Honda took over 5000km at the engine redline for over a month on 330, 000 km according to the odometer..

im really comfortable with tha same old 10/30 castrol to be honest i am afraid to go synthetic without some backup advice here....
but i am always wanting to do more/better for my car these days and i know Redline oil is the s*** so... what do you think

Use what you want? You don't necessarily need to use a synthetic oil for protecting your engine; just change the oil more frequently. Synthetics are fine if after break-in that was what you used, but really they are not necessary on the older engine with wear. Continue using what you're use to using as they all work pretty good. Some protect longer than others, but if you change the oil at a specific interval (say 1800miles), it doesn't matter what you use. My $.02......

I've used 5w-40 mobil-1 turbo diesel truck since I got my used motor 30,000 miles (48280km) ago. After some autocross and track days, all of my oil analysis results have been great at 6000 (9656km) mile change intervals.

I was thinking about using the turbo diesel oil from mobil 1 myself but thought it had different properties to the oil because of the diesel gas.... What do you guys reccommend for a fresh rebuilt motor...

Is Mobil 1 only a synthetic brand ?
I know for sure that next oil change I'm switching to a diesel oil
Don't quote me but I'm sure it's more suitable for a boosted gas engine, (compared to gasoline engine oil )
especially in the summer and I've heard of it having somewhat higher detergent content which is good....

Sounds like I might as well stay since its cheap and thick and I dot mind changing every 2500km lol
