Ok so I went to test drive a 97 Nissan XE King Cab truck tonight. The truck has good tire wear, drives beautifully, 4X4 works without a hitch, manual lock hubs, 5 speed, shifts very smoothly, 4X4 engages easily, interior is beautiful, roll up windows, but only problem is some light surface rust and bubles on the lower areas of the truck(rocker panel by front tire--below front of door, above rear tires(bubbles) and on the backside of the tailgate). It's just turned 100k. The guy is asking $5500, but I'm going to see if he would take $5000. Would you guys buy it if he'd take $5k for it? Or is that surface rust and bubbles a problem that would make you not buy it? I had the truck doing 60 in 4 wheel drive and it doesn't whine at all.

Personally I dont like cars/trucks with rust.. I would get a quote to see to fix it.....

I dont konw what its worth but youd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING under 6grand with working 4x4 that doesnt have a million miles..

I feel sorry for it.. only 100k and already sportin the rust...

Rust sucks, it's very very very hard to get rid of. (depending on how bad, or how much surface area it has)

$5000, hmm. That seems high.

Not sure if this helps....but the truck will be my daily beater/winter car. I just want something that will last me mechanically 5 years or so and not fall apart. I don't care too much if it's got rust on it later on. If I got this, I was going to have it taken into the body shop now or when I came home in December to have it fixed.

given your location, rust doesn't sound too bad really.

Well I called the guy back about that truck to see what the lowest he'd take was and he said $5300 right now, because he just put it in the classified. I'm not paying that much for that truck, even though it is beautiful mechanically.
