I was looking at stuff for my j30 on ebay and came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...7033. Supposedly some sorta cheap ECU mod like the JET V-Chip. Looks kinda suspicious to me. What do you guys think?thanks

Well there are a bunch of chips out.

Most of them work almost as well as advertised. Some dont. It's real dificult to tell which kind this is, especially since this is a new product and not much expereince with it will be out there.

But it is a good price , if it was me I'd probably chance it.

Just remember that as with any chip, its will be especially important to gas up only on the best octane u can find, as well as make sure your cooling system is up to snuff.

Fred...:)

I'm suspicous, esp. since the seller is new to eBay (no feedback scores yet).

If you want more power, do a thorough intake and throttle body cleaning.

I think this is the same thing that's being sold by other sellers on eBay for $3.99-$9.99, just in more complex packaging. It's a resistor (I think) that fools your MAF into thinking the incoming air is cooler and thus advances the timing and richens the fuel mixture (thus the need for 91 octane).

I don't know the "mechanics" of it but I'd love for Q45tech to explain/debunk it. Perhaps a post in the Infiniti Online Mechanic section?

p.s. My mechanic looked at the ad(s) and concluded it might be of a SMALL benefit and relatively harmless, esp if your car is well-maintained and uses only premium fuel.

On a Q you need exactly the opposite less gasoline at WOT from 3500 on up but the pecentage varies and above 6,000 you need at least 8-13% less progressively*...........so fooling the MAF or coolant temp is wrong plus the system won't go into closed loop if the coolant temp is too low!

* The stock programming holds the injector opening time fixed at above 6,000 rpm, what ever was calculated at 6,000 but the VE drops drastically by another 13% so richer and richer and richer.
