hi. im gonna be getting my white 90 240 painted in a couple of days. they already took a look at it and asked me if i: A) wanted them to paint the side mirrors to match the rest of the car, and B) wanted them to paint the headlamp housing (that plastic piece), also white to match the rest of the car. its a faded black now.

i believe in leaving the body as original as possible, but if it would improve its looks then why not. i think if they paint the headlamp housing thing white, it would lose that aggresive look it has when the lights are popped up. and as for the mirrors i think they look good in black also. thing is i cant picture them matching the rest of the car, so its difficult to decide.

Any opinions or thoughts would help and be appreciated.

Also... a couple of months ago i put on an exhaust, the piping and one of those mufflers that looks like the original, except a bit bigger, and the tips angle upward. well that upward angle causes everything it blows out to get on the paint. its hard to get out. i dont want this on the new paint. any tips on how to avoid this or easily clean it off??

It will be more expensive to change the color of the car being that you have to paint the jams and under hood and trunk or hatch whichever you have... I say keep it white

Keep it white. Its a lot easier than a whole color change. Have them remove the window trim or pull it back for a better finish around the trim. I learned that the hard way as the shop who did mine took a few shortcuts.

As for the exhaust problem, have an exhaust shop rework the piping to angle the muffler properly or apply a good wax on the bumper so that the carbon doesn't stick to the bumper so easily.

yea mines white an I got the problem with the exhaust as long as you just whipe it down every now an then an wash it regularly itll stay clean. I plan on gettin mine repainted but im gettin the lines that run along the car filled(the little groove an the black strip). I was also thinkin bout my mirrors too, I saw on a S14 jus the mirror was white not the whole thing it looked sweet so Ill probally do the same. Yea Im definatly keepin my headlight housing black too. What kinda white you pickin? I was planin on Championship white (off the ITR's).

I painted the housings around the lights gloss black and it looks so awesome with the color of my car. Don't paint those the same color as the car. About the mirrors and roof, I'm not sure. I've seen it both ways, but mines still black.

hey. yeah the roof is staying white. i never even considered painting it black with a white car. it would look like freakin' cop car. mirrors are staying black, as is the headlight housing.

as for the exhaust, going back to MainEvent212's comment. i dont really think it has a lot to do with whether it's cheap or not. even the most expensive one would blow onto the bumper, considering the exhaust style. if when i got it put on there, they would have made it stick out a little further, i might have avoided this problem, but it would have looked UGLY and just not right, hanging out there past the bumper. im gonna go with Silent Drifter and just do frequent maintenance on it, to keep it clean. hey Silent Drifter, i found a pic of a white S13 with the white mirrors and it doesn't look half bad. check it out. this is a sweet S13. hope the owner doesn't get mad for me posting this pic. mine is a fastback also. BTW... why can't i post pics bigger than 300x300 and the other day i saw a HUGE pic of spears and madonna making out???
