My friend has a 1989 Nissan Hardbody with the z24 motor in it. I know the motor is very similiar to a KA24E except it has 8 sparkplugs and a round intake.
Anyways its not running and he needs to sell it. After turning the key the fuel pump would turn on and the starter would make noise but the it would not crank over. There is oil all over the under side of the hood and engine the spark plugs have oil on them. So we think it the truck has a blown HG. Maybe it blew some piston rings or the timing chain broke. We not sure.
He knows these motors are rare so getting 89 z24 parts for a rebuild might be hard.
So i suggested maybe we can swap a newer Hardbody / frontier motor or even 240sx Ka24DE motor. But the question is how hard is it to swap in one of those motors. He can care less about performance. He just wants to get the truck running so he can sell it. The body and interior are in greta condition. So what would be the easiest and least expensive way to go?
