I had a pair of Akebono Pro-act Ultra Premium (ACT564H) and they were “ok” by the last 10,000 miles I got a bit of shimmy and shake.. I have slotted front rotors- I found some Brembo pads for $63- anyone know any better? The cars so heavy it defiantly could have used larger components- I despise the shimmy shake from the brakes..

Have you been replacing your rotors when you replace pads? Or at least resurfacing them? Also, have the guide pins been replaced or inspected and lubed each time? Uneven wear, warping and loose bits will cause the shimmys and shakes. Replacing all when doing the work should resolve the issue. Also, allowing for some cool off might be needed if you live on the bottom of a mountain and always park the vehicle with hot pads and rotors. I like vented blank rotors myself and I've had good results with stop tech brake pads. They also have options for slotted or drilled rotors in package form I believe.

My Q45, and wife's old G35 are both experience significant brake rotor warping. You can try to minimize it with minimizing run-out when the rotors are placed on the hubs, but it's really going to be a matter of replacing/resurfacing rotors as often as necessary to keep it in a range you can tolerate. Pad choice isn't going to do much in terms of rotor warping, however glazing and other issues are very much pad dependent. For most driving styles (e.g. non-track use) OEM pads are typically the best performing.

Depends the mindset. The cheaper the brake pad the more visible inspections you get. Also in some cases cheaper pads don't wear the rotors quite as much. If you are mechanically inclined go cheap.
